Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

2 Answers

I was starting my washer kenmore 80 series this am and there was what I thought was a little twig hanging out from where the water pours into tub and I pulled it and out came a mouse body and the tail popped off. I got a plastic bag and gently tugged at body and it came loose but head stayed in how can I get it out? I tried to lift top off but couldn't. Help!!

Try using a coat hanger ....but first take the machine apart.

Kenmore 80 series Model 110.28812790 - water leak inside tub

It's quite possible. First see the Sears parts list for your washer with diagrams of all major parts.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=+110.28812790&pathTaken=partSearch

Then see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for these washers and check the troubleshooting section.

70 Series Kenmore washer pouring water underneath washer.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Check the areas for the motor and pump and the Agitator Basket and Tub .

If you've checked the hoses to and from the pump the problem points to either the pump itself or to the Centerpost gasket.

Neither of these is too difficult to replace, the Gasket requires removing most parts of the washer although the pump is an easy replacement.

Washer not filling up with water at beginning of cycle.

Don't replace anything. You will need to clean out the tube which connects the water level switch to the tub. (or replace that tube)

Kenmore 80 series overflow

Ok, it sounds either your hose from the water level pressure switch has come off or broke, or the pressure switch itself is bad.

Check the pressure switch hose first.

My tubing came loose and I just duct taped it back on and it works perfectly.

You would need to open your console as shown here:
http://www.applianceblog.com/mainfor...ead.php?t=1081
Pull forward and up on the console and you can hinge it open and hanging from the hinges.

Here is your water level pressure switch:

Strong Musty odor

You will have take it apart, removing the wash tub and all top plastic parts. I just finished taking mine apart do to a mouse that chewed a larg hole in my water tub, and notice tons if old gunk mold and build up. It smells and will not go away unless you scrub it. Sorry to say it is all internal pouring clensers will only wash thru the tubes.
