Sorry but I've never heard of a DIGITAL ANTENNA, ALL antennas are ANALOG NOT DIGITAL, and yes you will be able to tune in some TV stations if you live close enough of TV stations that still transmit ANALOG signals, with a GOOD VHF/UHF antenna you can have good reception and viable TV time... (best of all it's FREE)

Good Luck!

Can't get the antenna to pick up the local channels

Hi Leslie, since you didn't disclose the brand or model name and number to the antenna you are using, I'll do my best to help you with your dilemma.

1.) double check your physical (wire) input connections
2.) make sure you have selected the proper input from you t.v.'s menu screen

HDTV aerial (outdoor mast) antennas are your best investment to receive free air wave digital transmissions...as opposed to the smaller indoor antennas...and the clarity is phenomenal; it cannot be matched by cable or satellite signals that compresses and decompresses the audio and video signal.

Why? Because, digital t.v signals are line-of-sight signals; meaning they need an unobstructed path between the sending source (t.v. station transmitter) tower and the receiving (home) antenna.

Hills, trees, walls, buildings, and any other obstruction- bends, deflects and weakens the signal as it is...placing an HDTV antenna in an attic weakens the signal by at least a 1/2...

So, if you are using an Indoor omnidirectional antenna at the set; the signal will be even weaker...it won't be good enough to pick up the digital signal that requires an accurate line-of-sight reception (just like satellite dishes.)

As a side note: I had an outdoor HDTV mast installed professionally; including signal filter and signal booster- [they'll know the proper type antenna to use for your area (see http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/dtvmaps/ for more details.)] And it was so worth it; whenever we have storms that knocks out cable power, we rely on the air-wave stations...and their sub-stations, lots of choices; and it's phenomenally clear...much clearer than cable or satellite signals can ever be.

As a matter-of-fact, we watch our local news and entertainment stations normally via our antenna rather than our cable service provider's system for that very reason of clarity and detail. Too bad we couldn't get the quality "pay for" stations that way, too - we'd drop our cable service and save a lot of money! :)

I have a VIZIO E552VL TV hooked up to an Over the Air Antenna and want to MANUALY put in channels NOT AUTO SCAN

Not sure if your TV is digital or analog, but I think an analog TV does not have the ability to perform auto scan, so you may be able to manually input the channels. As a kid, my dad installed a rotary antenna, and as it rotated and TV pictures displayed on the screen, dad noted the specific spot on the rotary unit; and every time we turned the set on, we just pointed the arrow on the dial on the unit to where dad noted what the channel number was on the unit, and the antenna turned toward that direction, and the pictured appeared on the screen.

I HAVE A VS-60705 LIVE IN THE WOODS.WPB WHAT IS THE BEST ANTENNAE TO USE FOR FREE DIGITAL BROADCAST.

If you live far from any digital broadcasting stations, you may not be able to pick up signals using an antenna. In my area, it is impossible to receive digital signals from transmitters located just across the river!

We have a mitsubishi 1080 hd model ws-48311. We no longer have cable do we need a converter box for this tv to pick up free tv. Thank you

No. All you need is an inexpensive antenna to pick up local TV stations. If the stations are close, all you should need is something like this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Digital-Flat-Antenna-made-for-DTV/10542272

NO DIGITAL TV SINGAL, WITH ANTENNA

You will need to connect to a satellite or cable provider that will give you a signal box and remote to pick up digital signals and your favorite tv stations. Everything is turning digital.

to see reviews for your Sanyo flat screen model ht27547

You may have to purchase a new antenna to do that search for one that is specifically for digital reception and good for the distance from station to home. (Range rating)

Picking up tv station

Yes, lock out the frequency, or wait until digital broadcast comes int effect. DTV will be effective in 2009 where all television broadcasts must be done by cable or satellite. This means no antenna broadcasts.
