Well there are a few parts you can check beginning with bulb, light switch 8170842
Here is the=> KBRP20EMSS repair parts list
most parts will be shown on the freezer liner photo and the part numbers will be on the following page. In your case I don't think it is something serious yet could be a switch, bulb or the bulb housing base. If you have more questions please ask, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The door was left open more than 5 minutes, the alarm went off and the lights went out

Some newer refrigerators have a timer that turns off the light after a given amount of time. The alarm may be there to alert you that the door is open.

Upright freezer door was left ajar. The alarm keeps sounding, can you tell me where the reset button is located.

Hello Deena;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

There is no reset for the alarm. The alarm goes off when you are not maintaining temperature.

During the time the door was ajar, warm air got into the freezer either icing up and locking the cooling fan or forming a block of ice on the cooling coils (Restricting cooling air flow.)

The best thing you can do, unless you want a $300.00 plus service call to defrost everything, is to turn power off to the freezer. Open the freezer door. Have plenty of old towels to soak up the water in the bottom of the freezer as it defrost.

You did not provide a model number which is located on the inside wall of the freezer. Every 8-10 hours your freezer will completely shout down for 20-30 minutes where only the light works and the defrost heater turns on. The ice build up is too much for the defrost heater to handle.

In some freezers the defrost mode is in the control board, in others it is a separate component that you can repeat trip using a flat head screw drive.

How to clear out the drain tube on a kitcheaid refrigerator

Freezer has been leaking water at the bottom. I opened the drawer/door and removed the bins, there was a small amount of ice formed on the bottom at the back, I broke it away and poured a small bit of warm water in the black drain hole. the next day the bottom and rear are full of frozen ice and it is difficult to open the drawer/door to the freezer. Everything is covered with frost. Help!

Freezer is frosting and refrigerator is warm.

As far as your freezer frosting up, sounds like a door seal problem, run your fingers along the seam of the door seal, there should be no splits/holes in the seal.
As far as the refrigerator either there is a secondary fan motor, or there is a obstruction blocking the air movement, if the freezer has a bad seal, its suspect ice is still building up.

Bottom mount Freezer Iced up

if you have frozen water droplets on everything most likely the door was left open and when the warm air mixes with the cold air in the freezer this happens, look at the top of the door or the sides of the freezer door, also up on the ceiling where the light switch is,if there's ice there the door was left open, common problem with freezers on the bottom, you can shut down the machine, and with a hair dryer blow the hot air into the vent holes in the back inside wall of the freezer and if ice is on ceiling melt that out too.good luck.

The red light is on my freezer also the green one the door has not been left open can you help

This means the sensor has determined that the temperature is rising. This can happen if the door was left open (which doesn't appear to be the case with your green light) or an unusual amount of warm food was put into it. If this is not the case you may have a cooling problem. If you can put a thermometer in there and check the temperature, working properly the freezer should be around 0 F. If you have trouble please send the model number from the tag on the freezer. That will help with trouble shooting.
