Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi, I am trying to have a video call using windows Messenger. I have a laptop with a built in camera, and also a separate camera , a Hue. Have used both in the past with Messenger video calls. But at the moment my contacts cannot view me on their screen. I start a video call and they accept, I can see their image on my screen, and I can also see my image in my screen, but they cannot see me!!! its very frustrating. I remember this happening once before, and it had something to do with my system thinking my camera was being used in another application... but it is not! any ideas? please help me.... Selina

Presumed you have clicked on Tools tab, selected Audio and video setup... & this was done OK.
After this but before starting a video call you made sure of the following....
1. clicked on the Tools tab
2. clicked on Options...
3. with Personal highlighted,
4. clicked the Webcam checkbox to set it on to Allow others to see that I have a webcam

My asus k50i built-in-webcam is upside down ,i am using window 7 please give me a solution thanks to all

Hi mdiyar2006...

The image in your Webcam Uploader window might be inverted because of your camera setting.
To change the setting:If you are using Messenger
Click Messenger and select "My Webcam."
In the window that opens, click the "File" menu, select "Preferences," and choose "Webcam".
Click the "Camera Settings" button.
There is usually a checkbox for "Invert Image" or "Mirror Vertical." Un-check this box if one exists.
If you can't find this checkbox, try searching the other tabs.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

I can not make video calls as it says that no webcam as been detected.... in the mean time my laptop has a webcam built in... please help me

Hi there !

Try to figure it out, most problems on video calls arises from the messenger software ( like yahoo messenger, skype messenger and others) that they used. For some reason, the software got corrupted or malware manipulate your computer not to function your webcam.

1. I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the messenger software you used to correct the error and try to use the webcam if it solves your problem on webcam.

2. Otherwise, use other messenger and see if still the same problem that video calls cannot be made. The problem sometimes is conflict with the windows operatings system registry that needs to be repair.

3. Another way is that your webcam driver is corrupted and needs to be install again.

I hope it helps you solving your problem. Good luck and regards.

How do i turn on the built in web cam

Hi, there should be a software within the laptop through which you can use the camera, but in some cases there is none installed specifically for that, other software like yahoo messenger, msn messenger, skype and so forth all use the camera in chatting with other people, you can easily check if the camera work by signing into one of those and going into Audio/Video setup to check the camera... other software is available through the web for free and can allow you to use the camera and capture images and videos clips with it.. the following link has some and you can also search the net for anything like 'webcam software' Best of Luck

How to use the camera

Hi, there are many ways on how to use your built-in camera. One is, you will be needing a third party software inorder to use the camera feature of your computer e.g easycapture software. You can use yahoo messenger and chat with your firends that ha a webcam. All you need to do is to invite them to view your webcam so that you will see each other while chatting. You can also use this link to take pictures of you.

My laptop ( lenovo ) just got reformatted. I can't use it's built in camera. I need a user friendly software installed for me to be able to use the camera.

Have you turned on the camera? Press Fn+camera key. If you're using Windows XP, there are no drivers needed for the camera. To check, after turning on the camera (Fn+Camera), open My Computer. You can see the camera icon there. Open it. You can use that to capture pictures.

As for other software, it depends on what you want to do with it. For video chat, there's Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger.

You can also download from Lenovo a camera capture tool. It has some user friendly tools to add fun stuff to the pictures. But only for Vista.

I just got a toshiba satellite laptop with built in camera. problem is when i activate the camera all i can do is see myself. woopee!! i bought the computer with the camera to make video calls back home...

Toshiba laptops with built-in cameras tend to come with proprietary software that controls the camera. You're going to want to disable or turn this off prior to using the camera in an IM client.

Alternatively, since you seem to be having issues with Yahoo, consider trying Windows Live Messenger. Also previously known as MSN messenger, clients can now talk to people using Yahoo messenger. You might be able to have a video conversation that way, without having to deal with Yahoo.
