Downloading pictures copies them to the computer but does not delete them from the memory card. This allows you to download them to another computer, or redo the download if some error occurs.

The best way to erase the pictures from the card is to format it. Since you didn't specify the make and model of your camera, I can't tell you exactly how to do that: it's probably in the Setup menu.

Two alternatives: Remove the memory card before connecting the camera to your computer, or use the Copy command to copy the pictures from the internal memory to the memory card and then download from the memory card.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Trying to load my pic's have memory card in and it show;s all my pic.s but i want to download my new ones. This is a new laptop Dell

Insert your memory card into an USB memory card reader then insert the USB card reader into your powered up Dell computer. The Dell will see this USB card reader with the memory card as an external storage device.
You can then click on this memory card and open the folder that contains the photos. You can then select the various photos and copy them onto a folder on the C drive on your Dell laptop.

Formatting memory card

First of all, yes, you will lose your pics if you format the card now. Get a card reader and download the pics to your computer. If you've used 1.7GB on a 2GB card, it may very well be full since the camera uses part of the card to write the files.

I cant download my pic from my camera it showes no inage found

Hai,
The easiest and best method to download photos and video from your camera to your computer is via a little USB card reader (which are quite cheap these days).

Card readers also work for moving photos from the computer onto a card.

Plug the reader into a USB port and insert the memory card.It will show up as a drive, and you can simply drag and drop the photos across to the folder of your choice.

Memory card

As long as there is space on your memory card you can continue to take pictures. But once your card is full you need to download them onto your computer and clear your memory card so that you have room for more photos.

The card is probably formatted with a FAT16 filesystem. Try reformatting the card with a FAT32 filesystem.
