Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

When I first purchased this laptop I heard something about an update that was needed for either the video or the graphics card, to run properly with Windows 7. I never got the update, and now my laptop freezes a lot of the time, and takes 5 to 10 minutes to become unfrozen. Do you know anything about this problem?

If you heard about it.. did you try to install it??? (Windows has a nasty habit of installing stuff without your consentement sometimes), maybe the installation of the new DRIVER update went bad, if it's the case you should try to boot in SAFE MODE than uninstall whatever you last installed (or anything relating the video card), than reboot normally... if it works MANUALLY re install the update from the fabricant's web site...

Cheers!

Sometimes stuck my video player in dell laptop

It is possible nvidea has ram memory not functioning properly, or the laptop is busy with other programs causing a brief interruption while watching your video player. Check to make sure you have latest update on your video graphics card, and contact nvidea about your problem, may have a fix.

I have a Toshiba L355D-S7825. I run Windows 7 on it. I want to update my graphics card to Shader 3. Will my computer support this? Is it motherboard compatible? What's a good card with this...

The shader 3 mode is a inbuilt option that is designed within the graphic cards (i.e. intergrated or slotted cards). This function usually use for high graphics gaming for PCs. You cannot upgrade the Graphic card to get this Shader 3 options for your Laptop. The best options you can do is to update the drivers & DirectX to the latest for your laptop "ATI Radeon™ 3100 Graphics" intergrated graphic card.

Hope it helps.

Counter Strike Graphics 'Set Pixal Format Failed'

Hi :)

When you updated your graphics card and ran CSCZ it tried to run the game from its previous setting and found they had changed. upon realizing this CSCZ may have changed its graphisc setup to your new graphics card which as you said is unsupported.

in this case all you can do is purchase a better graphics card than your old one that is on the supported graphics card list or you can re install your old graphics card. inorder to do this you would have to physically change the old graphics card back into your computer (which it sounds like youve done) and now when you run CSCZ it doesnt work? if this is the case you might have to reconfigure CSCZ to your old graphics card.

In order to do this:

it may be as as simple as checking the root file and finding a Config.exe or something to that extent that when you open it it has options on how to run the graphics for the game if this is the case change the settings and try again it should work)

It may be as thorough as un installing the game and re installing it when your old graphics card is in the tower (note this method might be tried by the new card aswell...)

NOTE make sure that if you installed your new graphics card that it has its driver installed or even try to go the manufacturers website and download a newer driver for it (if this isnt just out of the store)

Problem running video with ATI x1300 video card

that is an old budget graphics card not meant for gaming. An Ati 3650 or Nvidia 8600gt or better would suffice for gaming. The minimum specs for games show what is needed just to play the game at the lowest detail and resolution. UPGRADE!

Sounds like your drivers for your card got replaced with a Microsoft Windows version from Windows Update site. Search the video card manufacturers site for an updated driver for your card.( Even if you dont find one, get the last driver for your card anyway). Unpack the driver into a folder and do a forced install. Restart and test your game again.

Video card

Notebook computers unless made specifically for gaming aren't able to play the graphic intense games like gears of war and games that are graphic intense, I run an sli machine with dual graphics cards, ans still cannot play on the highest graphics settings on some machines, the new motherboards are runnong 3 an 4 video cards for gaming rigs. Most notebooks run shared graphics memory and don't have a seperate card for graphics, look at the alienware notebooks, and you will see what I am talking about, unless you have a 'Gaming laptop" custom job, playing the latest games is out for most normal laptops.

Upgrading graphics card in laptop

you might be able to commit more shared memory to your video in the BIOS settings. You can't pay $900 for a laptop and then expect it to have high-end options like an independent video card. I know with some Toshiba laptops, they only commit 64 or 32mb of RAM to the video card but you can change this. I think you can give the video card up to 224mb of RAM, so if you check and find that it has a lot less, you should change it in the BIOS. That being said. you should be able to play Halo 2 on it, but COD4 is probably not going to work unless you bring down the video resolution and features.

that's why gamers still play on desktops.

Video card

It is probably a problem of an older card not being powerful enough to run the refresh rate and screen resolution.

But first - check that you are running at maximum colours and resolution.

I had a problem (on a friends computer) of not being able to run Kid's games due to the inadequate video card performance - their only solution was to purchase a modern card.

White Noise above is correct - try updating the drivers first (though this will not change the capabilities of the card much).

Good luck.

Depending on the laptop, the manufacturer often has two or three choices on the video card. Before purchasing you can make the choice. If you have already purchased, you can upgrade to another video card as long as the video card is not integrated on the motherboard. Check the laptop specifications online and see if the manufacturer offers the upgrade before purchase.
