I have bought many rechargeable devices and about 4-5% of them have bad Chinese batteries in them. I also have converted nearly all battery operated items to rechargeables and these often have spotty performance with several out of a couple of dozen not worth keeping. You might try running the batteries down as far as possible and then trying to recharge. If they are NiCads, they may have developed 'memory,' a known weakness of that type and NiMh batteries in particular seem to need several charge/discharge cycles before they will come somewhat up to their rated capacities.

    The batteries are located in the handle and aren't intended to be user-replaceable. If you have exchanged it so many times, it may be telling you not to bother with it. It's entirely possible that each time you have gotten a replacement, you are getting units with batteries from the same defective batch.
    The unit seems to have a 2-year warranty so you might schedule the return of the defective one you now have for a year away to try getting better battery performance from a different batch and just toil away manually brushing for a while. :-(

HOW TO GET THE BACK OFF

Break it off..........

In order to take the Base Enclosure (Bottom Cover) off, you would have to break it off.

The Acer Aspire 5000 series of Notebook PC's, disassembles from the Top down. When you are done you are looking at an empty Base Enclosure,

You have to;
Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Remove the Harddrive Compartment Cover, Harddrive, Memory Compartment Cover, Ram Memory, Wireless Module, Wireless Antenna wires out of laptop body, Optical Disk Drive, (DVD drive), Display Assembly, (LCD Module), Keyboard Cover, Keyboard, Palm Rest Cover, Motherboard, and so on..........

Then you have the Base Enclosure. (Bottom Cover)

WEAR an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source.

My compaq presario c795tu battery is not charging

Unplug the power supply, take a stiff tooth brush and clean the battery terminals in the laptop plus the battery, re-install the battery and plug the charger in, If that fails you need to find out if the charging circuits are putting out the proper voltage before you replace the battery.

Hi there. when i plug in my hp charger it starts beeping and does not charge, it started this thing a few days ago.

First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.
