Tear it down and clean the dirt and dust inside of it thoroughly. Also blow compressed air in the entire motor and circuit area at 5 PSI
Reassemble and it should work like new again

This is a common problem. It is the 9-beep error. I suggest buying a repair kit from http://www.eesolutions.ca to fix it. There is a video on the site that you can look at to compare it with your Roombas behavior.

My roomba 560 will not go forward, just keeps tuning to the sides or backwards. Ihave taken it apart and cleaned it very well but that did not help. What can I do?

Your bump sensors are malfunctioning. The best thing to do is order a repair kit... I ordered mine from EESolutions.ca and it worked great. I'd recommend them.

I have the irobot roomba and the battery does not hardly hold a charge and now it won't go forward just backwards and around

The Roomba has a rechargable Battery. The Roomba battery like any battery will eventually ware out after so many charges and discharges. Mine lasted about three years and then is would hardly hold a charge. I purchased a new battery and then it worked fine after that.

As for not going forward. That is usually due to a dirty bumper sensor. You have to take the Roomba apart for cleaning that. You can take it to Sears and they will do it for you.

Backward spinning roomba

If you are lucky then one of the 4 sensors under the bumper has dust lint buildup. Blow out these areas and give your unit a good cleaning. If it still continues to do this then the bumper bar sensor should be replaced

Backs up spins in circles, then red light flashes and beeps

Sounds like either the battery is bad or not being charged properly with subsequent loss of programming.

Running backwards in circles.

If your Roomba's speaker isn't working, you need a new Roomba regardless. Give a call to customer support (877-855-8593) and they'll help you out.

Roomba going backwards

I had the same kind of problem with my model 400 today...after starting it and having it go in a circle for 30 seconds or so it would finally run into something and then back up a few inches, turn, then go forward a few inches, then back up a few inches, turn, then go forward a few inches, etc., etc.. I tried cleaning off the four pairs of sensors under the bumper and blowing out various things underneath (by mouth since I didn't have any canned compressed air). It didn't really help. It then occurred to me that I had a leaf blower! I put the Roomba upside down on the grass, put the leaf blower on high, and blew at it from all directions and up close. More dust came out than I thought would. It has been running normally now for the last 45 minutes.
