Hi dear chrisofoto, You can change the ISO sensitivity setting by pressing the ISO button and rotating the command dial, also the white balance by pressing the WB button and rotating the command dial to get the desired value.
Best regards

Hy guys. I am having a problem with my Canon S5 IS. Before pressing the trigger button the picture I see on the display looks ok (bright and sharp) but after taking the picture (or even when pressing...

This is a very odd problem. I wonder if you've got the depth of field preview button activated. As you look at the camera from the front there is a button on the left below where the lens meets the body roughly at 7 'o'clock That is usually the the DOF preview button. Try a little fiddle with that.

Camera is stuck in auto iso mode, blocking ability to shoot with flash.

On the side of the menu button of my 5200 model there is an icon that looks like a lightening bolt, when you click on that it should give you options in the screen for the flash. Not sure if that will help your camera.

Underexposed image on Auto mode

You can change the ISO setting also to Auto. If you have the advanced guide (see pp 80, 107).
Press the ISO button it will switch from various ISO setting to AUTO.

Do remember in Bright light , a lower ISO number like 80 will give you very fine images, while as the light level goes down, the ISO number will change to a higher number and the image will become more grainer.
I hope I could answer to your query.
Please do rate. Thanks

My photos are coming out slightly grainy in low light. Have played around with ISO and aperture etc but no luck. All modes have the same problem. Camera= canon powershot S5 I5

When you use auto mode on most point and shoot digital cameras ( which includes the F717) the camera software gets to choose aperature, shutter speed, and ISO setting. When the ISO setting is used at the faster ISOs, the images get digital 'noisy' very quickly. There is a much higher noise level in consumer digicams at the higher ISOs, because the sensor chip is much smaller than in the digital SLRs. F2.0 suggests yoiu are shooting at the maximum aperature of your lens and that the light is pretty dim.
If you learn to use your camera in the Av ( aperature preferred) mode at ISOs of 50 or 100, most of the noise you are describing will disappear. The camera should take very nice images at ISOs less than 200.

Consult your manual on aperature preferred or manul setting of the ISO speed

I have a canon powershot S5 IS, the photo quality comes out very noisy.

Hi!

It's possible that the ISO setting is set too high. If you are not familiar on what ISO to set in a given environment - the best setting would be AUTO.

Try first to set the ISO to AUTO - just press the ISO button then select the option for Auto.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!
