Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

When ever I turn on the receiver, it turns on for a moment and it sounds like it's trying to play the VHS tape inside, then it turns off. I can not eject the tape as it won't respond, and before it turns off I get a error/code that reads "F03"

You need to be a bit more specific and tell us the brand and model numbers.

The number following H or F depends on the status of the
unit. Turn the unit off and then back to ON. Alternatively, turn the unit off, disconnect both
AC power supply cords, and then reconnect them.
If the service numbers fail to clear, note the service number and contact a qualified service person.
Unfortunately, I do not have access to the trouble codes.

I hav a magnavox mwc24t5 triple combo. When I put a vhs tape in it spits it out. Sometimes it gets stuck in there and I have a time trying to get it out.

Please check your VHS tape's CONDITION. See if U can play it on another VHS. BE CAREFUL. sounds like a damaged VHS. You might need to take that to the shop. Better to have it checked than damage your materials. Had a similar situation with a DVD/VHS. Finally, the VHS got stuck inside. Thankfully the shop fixed it but my VHS never worked again properly.

I have a couple VHS-C tapes that drag

This may be caused by a faulty adapter. 1. try playing in the camera. 2. try a different tape. 3. try a different adapter.99% this is a problem with the adapter or the tape. It really sounds like the tape isn't turning freely, which can be caused by a brake sticking, or spindle in the tape or adapter.

Audio Problems playing VHS tapes with Denon AVR 1910

Did it EVER work as expected with VCR audio through the HDMI or are we working through that right now assuming it can?

I don't have a detailed manual, but the rear panel clearly shows some analog-only outputs (and NO digital ones) for the section called DVD/VCR. Internally, I'm sure there are proper analog-digital-converters for recording VHS to the native DVD-R, but VHS VCR's are NOT inherently digital audio devices so I'm pretty sure you need to run an analog RCA pair for the VHS video.

My JVC DR-MV150B plays prerecorded VHS tapes fine.

Try opening the front hatch of the tape by pressing the small, square button on the right or left (short) side of the tape. Check the black tape inside for any marks, dirt, scratches, tears, etc. If the tape is fine then your unit needs to be cleaned with a tape cleaner available at any electronics specialty or retail store. Good luck to you!

Not sure on the removal, but if you replace the mode switch the machine might come back to life.

VHS got jammed, clicks, turns self off

Open it up and next to the right spindal where the tape goes there should be a small, black B-S button, press it in with a pencil or pin, and it should reset the VCR's computer.

Vhs tapes recorded to DVD+R's

try forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind to the start again, this can help to seat the tape correctly on the spindle . the audio track part of the tape is in a specific region on the tape so misalignment may be the issue with those cassettes.

also try to press the tracking up and down when playing the video

VCR acting strange with audio and playing

It sounds like the audio control head is at fault.
If all prerecorded tapes (movies) play with audio level jumping up and down, is is likely that the audio head is dirty. The audio head in the VCR looks very similar to a head of an old audio cassette player.
First, try to clean the audio head by running a VHS head cleanning tape. The cleanning tape will usually clean the path of all tape mechanisms..

Good Luck
