Question about Samsung DualView TL210 Digital Camera

3 Answers

I've had my Samsung TL210 for nearly a year. I'm not sure what I've done differently, but my PC suddenly doesn't recognize the camera. I've always plugged the camera into the PC via USB, because the older PC doesn't have a slot for the smaller card or the adapter. When I plug the camera into the PC, the readout shows it connecting to the computer, then the readout disappears and the status light starts flashing. From there on, nothing happens.

My Computer briefly recognized it once - a couple of days ago, but it quickly disappeared, and hasn't even done that since then. But, just in case, I just tried going through accessories. The scanner/camera wizard opens the scanner only and just goes into "ready to scan" mode. I had looked at the user manual earlier today, and tried opening through the printer, but mine is a combo unit, and it just went into scan mode. I don't remember if there was a setup cd with the camera, but don't think so. Seems like the first time I plugged it into the computer it wanted to open up in itellistudio. Since I normally use photoshop, I've just been bypassing intellistudio. But it doesn't pop up now at all.

  • ralphparkers Mar 24, 2011

That is correct. It doesn't show up in my computer. And yep, I've turned the camera on. I've tried it with the camera on and camera off. It's just not showing up. And it's been plugged in since I posted my last response, and the status light just sits there and blinks at me. FYI, I'm an artist - a landscape painter - and I use the camera and the computer for reference photographs to paint from, so I've plugged this ****** in hundreds of times. This is killing me.

Yes, it's worked before on this computer, and it's the first time I've had issues with it. I was also using it in the same way on my laptop. This has been my week for issues, though, because a couple of days ago, my laptop blocked me out with an error that's apparently specific to Windows Vista. (The laptop runs Vista, the desktop PC runs XP.) That appears to be a completely different issue. I believe the last time I used it, the laptop did recognize the camera.

  • ralphparkers Mar 25, 2011

Not presently, because I'm locked out of the laptop. That's a separate issue. Shall we switch to that problem, try to solve it first, then I'll pay again to come back to this one? Or do we leave this one unsolved for now, and I'll open a new question?

  • ralphparkers Mar 25, 2011

Joe, I'm not real computer-savvy. I THINK I downloaded what Samsung calls 'firmware' for this camera. But I have no idea where to go from here. I don't know where to look to see if it's actually there. Just plugging the camera in didn't do anything.

  • ralphparkers Mar 28, 2011

Okay I followed the instructions. It appears that all I did was remove a USB Mass Storage Device. There were no instructions to reinstall anything when I rebooted the computer. The Operating System is Windows XP, by the way.

Where do I look to see if I actually downloaded the driver?

I'm sorry that the Camera is not recognized by the Computer. Unfortunately, knowing the Operating System is the key element in providing troubleshooting the PC connection. However, I will give you the troubleshooting steps which is general for the compatible Operating Systems for the Camera:

The compatible Operating Systems are as follows:

Please follow the below troubleshooting steps below if your Computer is installed with any of the above mentioned Operating System. Please note that other Operating Systems are not compatible with your Camera.

  1. Please make sure that the connections are secure. Prior to making any adjustments, first ensure you've firmly connected your Camera's USB cable into the USB port on your PC.
  2. Power off and disconnect your Camera from your computer.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. After your computer is rebooted, connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable provided. Note: Connect your camera to an alternate USB port, preferably on the back of your computer.
  5. Turn your camera on, your camera will connect instantly to your computer. If a message appears on your camera shown in the illustration below, select the 'Computer' option on your camera.
  6. If the issue persists, please check the Device Manager driver conflicts by following the steps:
  • Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable.
  • Turn on the camera.
  • Open the Device Manager of the operating system.
Windows 98 - Right-click the My Computer icon, left-click Properties , left-click the Device Manager tab. XP: Right-click the My Computer icon, left-click Properties , left-click the Hardware tab, left-click the Device Manager button. Windows Vista: Click the Start button, click Control Panel , click System and Maintenance , click the Device Manager button. Windows 7: Click the Start button, click Control Panel , click Hardware and Sound , under Devices and Printers , click Device Manager .
  • In the Device Manager window, at the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers , click the PLUS (+) symbol.
  • Under Universal Serial Bus controllers , right-click Sony DSC or USB Mass Storage Device to display the drop-down menu.
  • In the drop-down menu, click Uninstall or Remove.
  • In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the OK button.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Follow any on-screen instructions to complete reinstallation of the USB driver.

If the issue persists, reset the Camera and check the operation.

I hope following the above troubleshooting steps should definitely resolve the issue. If you require any further assistance, please get back to me with the exact Operating System, I can definitely help you with this. If a PC connection is not recognized by a Computer, most probably it will not be a hardware issue.
Thanks for understanding. Shajan RS

Hello ralph. when this happens the fix is to download the driver again as you did when the camera was new.
If you still have that disk use it. If not you can get a free download from samsung.com/drivers

It sounds like the computer is recognizing that your plugging it in. After you plug it in open up my computer and see if the camera shows up in there. If so then you can go to start>programs>accessories>microsoft scanner and camera wizard to pull the pictures off of the camera. If you need any further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

So this camera has worked before on this computer? This if the first time your having issues? Have you tried plugging the camera into a different computer so you can isolate whether it's a computer problem or a problem with the camera.
    Thanks,
    Lee

Transfer pictures from my samsung TL210 camera to my computer

The best way to transfer pictures and videos from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy files from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.
