Question about Olympus FE-320 Digital Camera

4 Answers

Olympus FE-320 Digital Camera will not transfer photos to Computer via USB port hook up. When connected and PC or Transfer selected, screen message on camera says "Wait" and never connects. When Olympus Master 2 program opens on computer it does not recognize Camera Connection and continues to search for Camera so no images can be transferred. This combination did work in the past but has stopped. All updates have been applied. Need help.

Have you considered NOT connecting your camera to your computer? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

That is not a solution but a scam trying to collect the reward. You have been reported to this site for abuse and payment will be withdrawn. Anyone using this site would have tried all obvious solutions prior to asking for help. Hopefully you will not be allowed to scam anyone else in the future by my report.

I'm sorry that the Camera is not recognized by the Computer. Unfortunately, knowing the Operating System is the key element in providing troubleshooting the PC connection. However, I will give you the troubleshooting steps which is general for the compatible Operating Systems for the Camera:

The compatible Operating Systems are as follows:

  • Windows XP
  • Windows 2000 Professional
  • Windows Vista
  • Mac OS X

Please follow the below troubleshooting steps below if your Computer is installed with any of the above mentioned Operating System. Please note that other Operating Systems are not compatible with your Camera.
  1. Please make sure that the connections are secure. Prior to making any adjustments, first ensure you've firmly connected your Camera's USB cable into the USB port on your PC.
  2. Power off and disconnect your Camera from your computer.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. After your computer is rebooted, connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable provided. Note: Connect your camera to an alternate USB port, preferably on the back of your computer.
  5. Select MTP instead of default PC from the USB select screen appears on the LCD screen after connect the Camera to the Computer.
  6. If the issue persists, please check the Device Manager driver conflicts by following the steps:
  • Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable.
  • Turn on the camera.
  • Open the Device Manager of the operating system.

Windows 2000 - Right-click the My Computer icon, left-click Properties , left-click the Device Manager tab.
XP: Right-click the My Computer icon, left-click Properties , left-click the Hardware tab, left-click the Device Manager button.
Windows Vista: Click the Start button, click Control Panel , click System and Maintenance , click the Device Manager button.
Windows 7: Click the Start button, click Control Panel , click Hardware and Sound , under Devices and Printers , click Device Manager. You may try the steps before give up even if the Operating System is Windows 7 as it supports many cameras with default driver.
  • In the Device Manager window, at the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers , click the PLUS (+) symbol.
  • Under Universal Serial Bus controllers , right-click Sony DSC or USB Mass Storage Device to display the drop-down menu.
  • In the drop-down menu, click Uninstall or Remove.
  • In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the OK button.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Follow any on-screen instructions to complete reinstallation of the USB driver.

If the issue persists, reset the Camera by removing the battery for more than one minutes and check the operation.
I hope following the above troubleshooting steps should definitely resolve the issue. If you require any further assistance, please get back to me with the exact Operating System, I can definitely help you with this.
If a PC connection is not recognized by a Computer, most probably it will not be a hardware issue.
Thanks for understanding. Shajan RS

Try it with computer on and launch Olympus Master 2 program, hotplug(insert) usb cable from camera(now turned on) to PC. Wait for pc to recognize camera. Then transfer pictures. Sequence of how each piece of equipment are connected is important.

Obviously, if operation sequence is not the solution then you have a defective camera. You need to take it apart and replace some of the circuit board, buy parts/repair from ebay.

Check the LCD screen of the camera. You should get a message when you first plug it in to select the usb type. highlight PC and press ok. The screen should display one moment please then go off. Then the camera should be recognized by the computer.

How do you transfer internal memory photos on to memory card? i have a olympus fe-320 and i really need the photos!

That's not the normal way to do it; if you connect your camera to the computer with a USB cable, then the camera will appear as a disk drive (choose mass storage mode if it gives you the choice). Then you can copy the photos. The simplest thing to do is to do this with NO card in the camera, then it has to show you the internal memory, not the card. If you really, really want those photos on the card... then use the computer to put the photos back on to it! But I think you just wanted them on your computer, right? And if you need tips on finding a USB cable, how to copy them etc, just comment back.

Olympus fe 4000 - when plugged into the computer doesnt work

Is the computer or the camera telling you the battery is bad? If it's the computer, you might have some bad pins on the camera, or your usb cable may have a problem with it. If the camera is reporting this on it's screen, not sure what the problem is there. I would instead, just transfer the pictures to the computer via a card reader through the USB port. Check your printer- many printers these days have memory card slots on them, and you can transfer pics to the computer through them.

My camera won't be recognized when it's hooked up...

Make sure the camera is on and pc is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. The camera uses the driver usbstor.

Problem transferring photos from my digital camera to my PC

Be sure that you plug original Olympus USB cable directly into USB port on mother board (ussualy on the back side of PC) not on the front pannel hub and not into extention USB cable.

Cannot download photos from Olympus FE-280

Connect Olympus camera to laptop with USB cable provided, turn the camera on and open "Computer" in Window explorer or Computer. You should see the new removable disk, click on it and you will probably see one subdirectory and one sub-sub drectory, something like 100OLYMP, open it up and you should see jpg files in your camera. The light will blink for some time and then stop. You should then be able to select the files and transfer them to your folder on the hard drive.

When you first turn on the camera you could check to see in Device Manager, under Portable Devices, if your camera is recognized and whether everything is OK with your driver.

If you have a card reader you can also try to read the card from the laptop.

Hope it works!

Olympus camera fe 240

You can transfer the photos directly from the camera to the PC using the USB cable that came with the camera. You don't need to transfer the pics to memory card first.

Connect the cable to the camera and the PC. Turn on the camera and your PC will recognise it as an external storage device. Use the PC's software to transfer the photos from camera to PC.

Once you have the pics on the PC you can use the Olympus Master software included with the camera to edit and archive the photos on the PC.

Make sure your cable is OK. 1: Make sure you don't have any damaged pins on the plug on your camera and on your USB port on the computer Try using a different cable to be sure that is not the problem. If you can t ry a different camera on the same cable and make it work, your camera is at fault. Try it on a different USB port, and possibly also on a different computer to make sure the port on your computer is not at fault. Check both cable ends and the ports on the camera and computer are not dirty
