Question about Computers & Internet

I have a paper jam in a cannon PC 720. I cannot find any paper inside when I open it up. When I press the button to start copying, it sounds like it is responding but after a few seconds it stops and the paper jam symbol comes on. Of course, there is no copy printed

How can I examine the paper path? I lift the lid and see the rollers but I cannot see

anything caught between the rollers. Can I safely turn the rollers with my finger without causing any damage to the machine?

    where is the paper sensor?

I know this is an old thread but I'll put this info here for others who may come across the same issue.
This is an old and well documented problem with the PC720 and PC740 copiers.
The problem is a spring that has come off one of the gears.
If you look to the back of the machine you will see a pivoting housing that contains some white gears.
At the top of this housing you will see a piece of metal that sticks up and has a slot in it. One end of the spring was hooked into that. The other end of the spring hooked to a small piece of plastic down and a bit toward the feed side of the copier. The plastic "tab" has probably broken right off and usually you can't even see where it is broken. The solution is to look through the machine for the missing spring (usually in the same area); it should be a fat little one about an inch long. Drill a small hole in the plastic that is remaining and hook the spring back up. Make sure to drill the hole so it is not too close to the plastic edge. You may have to reshape the end of the spring again to get it into the hole. I spent more time finding the spring than I did repairing the machine.

Paper sensors are usually located on the far side of the printer, like the lock that keeps the rollers in place, try to remove the toner set first, then examine the rollers and the paper path(it is the route of the paper from the feeder tray out)

once you have the paper jam error out, try to clean the rollers using low % ethyl alcohol.

good luck, hope this helps

Have a close look at the paper path. There should be paper bits obstructing the path. Have also a look at the paper pickup and sensor, it might be wornout.

Hope that helps........

Disconnect printer and wait ten minutes.
Open all pri nter doors , check inside the front and bach door.
Remove toner and check in deep under the toner for fragments of paper or foreign object.
If you keep getting the error one of the sensors is faulty, and the printer must be inspected by a technician.
    Ensure all doors are closing.

How do I re-set after a paper jam hp psc 1200?

Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
1.
Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
2.
Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
3.
Remove both print cartridges.
4.
Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
5.
Close the print cartridge access door.
6.
Plug the power cord back in.
7.
After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
8.
Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
*
Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.

If that doesn't work, maybe try this too:

Clearing paper jams
Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons but are usually paper related. Follow the steps below to clear the paper jam:

1.
Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord. With the power off, the paper feed rollers will turn.
2.
Open the rear access door of the all-in-one by pressing in on the left side of the access door and then pulling it toward you.
NOTE: All paper jams must be removed by pulling the paper out the back of the all-in-one using the rear access door. Pulling the paper out the front of the all-in-one rotates the paper feed rollers in the wrong direction and can lead to additional problems.

Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door.
*
If under warranty, contact HP to obtain a replacement part.
*
Click How to buy on this page to order replacement parts.
3.
From the rear access door opening, gently pull the jammed paper free.
4.
Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
Do not continue to push the paper in after some resistance is felt. If the paper is pushed in too far, more than one page will feed into the all-in-one at a time.
5.
Reattach the rear access door by inserting the two pins on the right of the door into the holes for them and then pressing in gently but firmly on the left side.

6.
Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on. Source(s): http://www.castleink.com

Door open

It sounds like there is a sensor that got damaged or jammed when your paper jam occurred. Look around the inside edge of the door for a pin or clip that may pass into a hole that signals a door closed. If you can't find that look around the edge that the door touches for a contact that the door could trip. If you find either look for a damaged clip or a piece of paper that could be affecting the signal.

If you can't find either please advise me as to the manufacturer and model of your printer so I may find out what type and the location of your sensor

Thanks
Dave

Whenever i try to copy it says that paper is jam

I assume this is a printer or copy machine and not a PC.

However, sometimes its not easy to locate the paper jam. But, you need to find and clear the jam. Take out the paper tray(s) and look carefully. You may have to remove the toner cartridge or even the drum.

If there is no jam, one of the sensors may be clogged or defective.

Hope this helps :)
