Can the tracking on the sanding belt on the B&D belt sander 5.2A be adjusted?

yes ther should be a knob on the top front roller (top side) this should affect tracking , also make sure tension taker (lever for changing belt) Is fully off so that belt gets its full tension , if the belt doesnt get full tension it will walk side to side

Belt tracking

I don't know your model of vacuum but there is no way to adjust the tracking on most models. If the belt is not staying on properly it usually indicates a problem somewhere. Start with a new belt, make there the brush roll spins freely. Install the new belt with the brush roll and spin slowly by hand. If it is not tracking properly you will need to watch the moving parts to try to determine what could be causing your problem

How do I adjust the porter cable sander so that the belt runs stright?

The porter cable belt sanders have an adjustment knob (threaded screw with a black plastic t-nut on the end). The knob adjusts the angle of one of the rollers and thus the tracking of the belt. The know takes very little adjustment to change the belt's tracking.

Is the know perhaps missing? You can get replacement parts for for porter cable tools at www.servicenet.com.

Hope this helps.

25/8 with tracks; used my blower for 5 hours yesterday. during last 30 minutes tracks weren't going into gear that well, and at very end, tracks not moving. Advise?

The most common cause of this is the drive belt is worn. If you remove the cover in the middle of the snow thrower and look at the belt closest to the motor. This is the transmission drive belt.
With the engine not running, have someone depress the drive lever and check the belt. You should only be able to depress the long side 1/2 or less. More than that the belt has stretched and needs to be replaced. On some older blowers you can adjust the tension pulley, but most made in the last 15 years, you can't
I didn't see what make and model this blower was but track drive tend to wear out the drive belts faster than the wheeled models.
If this is a craftsman you can get parts through searspartsdirect.com. With other makes you can get parts through jackssmallengines.com
Feel free to ask any other questions. I know Craftsman Snow Blowers. Please remember to rate this answer!

WB-37 tracking

Has the "crowning " on the drive roller been worn away . That is the slight barrel shape of the roller . It is that which keeps the belt tracking so I would look at that first.
als try the tension as any trace of belt slip will cause the belt to de track.

New feed belt will not track evenly. Belt is loose on left side & tight on right, but if I tighten the left side to pull it flat, it tracks off to the right immediately. I tried reversing the belt in...

Could be the belt, sometimes they get glued together wrong and they don't track, or its the tension wheel/ track wheel.

It looks like one of the stationary rollers might have a small adjustment
that you can do, hard to tell looking at the diagram,

but if you can adjust this tighter on the right side it should track the belt back to the left, so check and see if any of the rollers or holder of the rollers can be loosened and moved a hair to get the track to the left so the adjust track can make it track straight.

If you still have the old belt, put it on, if it works then there is a problem with the new one and it is not the machine.

The Belt of my craftsman 3x21 sander slowly moves off track.

There is a leveling (screw/knob) on the side of the belt sander. Turn it up and the belt will drift in one direction. Turn it downward and the belt will drift in the opposite direction. play with this leveling screw/knob until you reach a good balance and the belt will stop drifting.

Many thanks to Franavan for his suggestions. I eventually tracked down a Manual for the machine posted up by a very helpful group who offer spare parts  http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Husqvarna_Parts_Manuals/I9902038.pdf
I was able to track down the belt size from there and loads of other info  as well of course.
Terrific........many thanks

My Sharper Image Power Tower 200 won't turn

Most likely the belt is broken. The CD track can be removed by taking a slot screwdriver and gently pushing in the center tabs on any track. With a little patience you will eventually release the track and expose the inside where the motor, gears and belt drive are located.
