At the bottom of the clear cylinder, at the front in the middle, there's a yellow tab, or lever. If you push that down, the cylinder can swing out. The clear cylinder can be slid out downwards, you may have to wiggle it a bit.

Just out of interest, if you wish you can swing the cylinder right up, and the hinge at the top will pop off; that might make it easier for you (you can hold the cylinder between your feet and pull the other part off the top of it!), but it's a bit stiff to push it back on, and I always worry that I'm going to hurt it when I do it with mine.

How do I reassemble the Dyson DC1 Slim under carriage Assembly

Hi,

This sort of procedure is not something that we at Dyson could recommend. The difficulty also is that there are no longer spares available for the DC01, so any parts that you need will no longer be supplied.

I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Best wishes,

Allan

My dc01 wand wont pick up

Hi Davina,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC01. If your machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be via the hose, there may be a blockage somewhere in the machine. The filters may also need to be washed or replaced.

To check for any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc01/dc01-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual1/clean-the-shroud
In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow the filters to dry completely somewhere warm for at least 12 hours before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298. Our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week, and calls are free from UK landlines.

Best wishes,

Jack

My dc01 upright does not pick up dirt as well as when I first used it (new) after many years of faithful service. I regularly disassemble barrel and wash it and clean turbine head and clean filters. Does...

Hi there,

Sorry to hear of your problem with your DC01. Although it sounds as if you've already checked your machine over quite thoroughly, you might find it helpful to visit the Support section of our website to ensure you've covered everything:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1919&product=DC01-SY-STD

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to supply spare parts, or carry out service or repairs for DC01 and DC02 machines.

However, as the owner of a DC01, you can receive £100 off selected Dyson Ball™ vacuum cleaners, or £70 off selected other Dyson vacuums. We'll also collect and recycle your old machine.

If you have any questions about this offer or would like to discuss this further, please call 0800 954 0153.

Kind regards,

Jack

Hepa filter on dyson dc01

Not sure about you model, but some of the dyson's have the hepa filter under the dirt container. Remove the container, there is a cover that comes off and the filter is under that cover.
