note carefully the 45 to 55 lockup rule.!!!!

Why wont my vizio smart tv turn off

pull the AC plug and let it sit for a while. Your set and most later ones do have microprocessors in them that can have 'lockup' problems similar to a personal computer crashing.

lockup is controlled by a solenoid in the valve body, VW automatics are notorious for problems with their valve bodies.

Torque converter wont lockup

Most lockup converters are controlled by a wire or wires that plug into the transmission. It is possible on some models to simply disconnect this plug. This is not a problem and will only cause you to lose a little gas mileage. The RPM's will run slightly higher than before but will not harm anything or be an issue. ( the vehicle will tend to rev up and down as it engages and disengages, the convertor clutch will engage randomly in gears that it shouldnt even engage in usually, the clutch does not disengage. good-day ! ( tcc ) solinoid problem.

My 1995 dodge 3500 wont stay in lockup

Do a OBD1 fault code test and see if a speed sensor code shows up, if this sensor is defective it will cause the truck to drop out oif OD. The VSS sensor is located on the drivers side of the transmission case. Use the Check engine light flash out to read the code.

My 2002 gmc yukon slt wont switch out of auto fwd? It was working fine in 2 hi then i switched it to 4 lo the light on the 4 lo started blinking while it was still blinking i accidentally hit the auto...

You need to replace the lockup servo mounted in the front differential housing. the light will blink to indicate that the lockup servo is not engaging/disengaging. you can get the servo at a local parts place. It is very easy to replace and is easily accessible.

Come to a stop and it dies, starts back up but when you put it in gear it dies, have to let sit for awhile before it will go.starts up fine just wont go.

The problem is the torque convertor lock up. There is a solenoid in the transmission that applies the lockup. you can change this or a cheaper bandaid is to disconnect the wire connector at the front of the transmission. This will defeat the lockup mechanism. It is like stopping a car with a manual transmission without pushing the clutch pedal down.

P0743 is the code i got

It means the PCM (the brain) doesn't sense any current in the circuit for 'torque converter lockup'. This 'lockup' would happen when you are in high gear and going above about 45 mph. It could be a connector is loose, a wire broken, or shorted. Its not easy to poke around in the wiring harnesses going to the transmission - but if you can, wiggle and reseat each connector. Also wiggle and push in on the connectors going into the PCM next to the battery. Make sure they are fully 'clipped on'. There is probably a connector inside the transmission too - but its not reachable without dismantling things, and its unlikely it would fail. There is a computer controlled solenoid inside the tranny, which is what causes the torque conveter to lockup.
On the bright side, if your torque converter is not locking up - you can drive the car indefinitely that way. Your MPG will suffer a few percent - maybe 5%-7%. But it wont hurt the car.
