Question about Computers & Internet

When i switch my laptop on, it shows the desktop wallpaper, but nothing else: No start button, no icons, nothing! and it doesn't respond to Right clicking or ctrl alt delete....i even tried putting a disc and memory stick in, but nothing apart from the wallpaper shows up...(and the mouse). What should I do???

Try to re-boot the computer into Safe Mode (continually Press F8 while you boot up.

Then select safe mode from the list of options (use arrow keys)

If you can boot into safe mode, then try to see why the computer will not boot, perhaps you have recently installed a new software program, update, etc.

Icons appear on my wallpaper page that are of programs I wish to keep for reference, but do not want on my wallpaper


Open Explorer (right click on the start button), create a folder named Storage (or any name you like), then drag the icons into that folder.

Another method would be to right-click on the icon "send To" My Documents" or to a Compressed Folder.

I think you will find, if you go to Power Settings, you will find your answer. It has been set for maximum system performance and minimum windows looks.
There is nothing wrong with the wallpaper, it is just removed to utilize maximum speed from the processing.

For Windows 2000, XP, 2003

Right Click on the Desktop
Select "Properties"
Click "Desktop"
Select any pictures you want or click "Browse" button to install any picture which you want to set as Desktop wallpaper.
Click "Apply" then "OK"

For Windows Vista, 7 or 2008

Right Click on the Desktop
Select "Personalise"
Click "Desktop Wallpaper"
Click Browse button to install any picture which you want to set as Desktop wallpaper.
Click Save Setting
then Close the Window.

That's it.

right click on main screen, then go to properties, then you can adjust resolution, color, contrast, hue, and much more. You can also do this from control panel and under display.

are you able to operate your system after it is started. I mean open Windows Explorer ??? Mouse working ?? etc ??

if its only the desktop icons, then try this:

Right Click on Dekstop >> Arrange Icons By >> Show Desktop Icons

No icon only wallpaper


Right click on the desktop and go to arrange icon by > show desktop icon.

ACER X193 MONITOR DISPLAY ISSUE


Windows doesn't know your display is broken as it see's your display adapter for the laptop. By adding the monitor windows is adding a second display to the one you don't actually have, your icons and start bar are still on display 1
