Everything is repairable its just a matter of when to say ok it is going past the amount that it would cost me to fix this unit compared to buying a new one if you yourself are able to do the repair and are familiar with doing continuity tests you can remove the upper elements and do a continuity test on them from one side to the other there are also some bad reviews of this unit being suceptable to catching fire click here
and I havent seen any good reviews on this particular brand so it might just be alot easier to look for a different make and model of toaster if you have any further questions message me back this unit is not worth having a service technician come to fix and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations thanks Rick

GE Sensor Microwave Oven made in 2008 doesn't heat up food

If you do not have any electrical / electronic repair experience I suggest replacing your microwave oven. The cost for repair might be excessive depending upon where you live and you might find a newer microwave oven with features that you like which were not on your older model. The prices of microwave ovens have become lower in recent years and that almost makes microwave ovens "throw away" devices. It has happened to radios, televisions, etc. I used to be in the repair business and the throw away stuff pretty much ended my business.

It is only about 11 months old and the turn table moves and it sounds like it is working, but it is not heating. it is a GE countertop model. If it is a circuit board will it cost more to repair than to...

If it is running and not heating the problem will most likely be in the heating element which is called a 'magnetron' before you throw this away check with your owners manual, most of these have a 1 year warranty on the microwave.

My toastmaster bread machine doesn't seem to be getting hot enough to bake the bread. should I throw it away, or can it be fixed?

the heating element needs replacement. Genrally, wth any small appliance, buy CHEAP so you can throw it away when it doesn't work and buy a new one. Appliances, regardless of manufacturer, are made these days to be disposable. Quality Control is a thing of the past. Good Luck.

Bread will not stay down; element does not get hot (Kenmore toaster- 10 -12 years old). I don't know if there is spring that needs to be replaced or if the element itself is gone. How would I test for this...

Hi and welcome to Fixya. There is a simple test you can do with an ohm meter across the heating element connections.

The unit must be unplugged and your going to have to remove the cover.

Check for any signs of low resistance across the element connections. No resistance or infinity and the element is history.

Any sliced bread toaster with a failed heating element will have the symptoms you described. However, it could also be the mating contact has failed which is closed when the bread holder is in the down postion.

My experience... 10 - 12 year old toasters are not worth repairing unless it is a commercial type unit. By the time you order the needed parts and pay the shipping you far exceed unit replacement costs. Repair costs rise even more if you ship it or hand carry it to a repair service center.

Toaster Failure

It may be the heater element or thermostat / switch.

I would contact LG and see if they offer parts for it.

The contact info is in the owner's manual, which is available here:
