How do I check the thermostat

  • stan3grit Aug 03, 2008

The thermostat is part of an essembly that includes the temperature control. Two output terminals were tested and read infinity, hot and cold.

  • stan3grit Aug 03, 2008

The refrigidaire is Model is FRT15HB3D, SERIAL BA61416658; hope this will help to identify the assembly

  • stan3grit Aug 06, 2008

I have not recieved a response from my previous comment. I Replaced the temperature control assembly which includes the thermocoupe. The refrigerater has been running for 24 hours and the temperature still reads 60 degrees, so your solution does not appear to solve the problem.

Put the freezer control on normal. If you select max cold it will close off a vent and rob the cold from the fridge side. For more info on fridges - More on Fridge Repair and Technology

what is the model number anyway? so that we will be able to provide a precise step for you to follow.

It sounds like either the compressor or sealed system has gone south on you.

Please double check your model number because that number is not listed. I am pretty sure it has a dual evaporator one for freezer and other for the fresh food compartment. Check behind the cover of the fan inside the fresh food compartment to see if the coils are icing over. Send me the correct model number will help me decide if it is something different. I will even send you a Service manual with the correctmodel number, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Refrigerator is freezing at the bottom and 60 degrees at the top

probably the fan is not running
take the fan housing off and you may find a buildup of ice preventing the fan from running
