The one side of the spray arm is probably clogged with food particles. Remove it and clear out the jets in the trailing edge of the arm. The arm is only being driven by the spray from one side and that is what makes it off balance. Check the top spray arm as well, it may be partially blocked as well.
To prevent this happening in future, make sure that there are no solid particles of food etc. on your dishes before putting them in the machine.

Not quite sure, ones I have worked on have have just clipped off or had a spring clip that has to be levered off, it may be under a plastic cap. There is not much holding them on and with a bit of investigation I am sure you will see what it is. There are so many makes and designs it is hard to say one way or the other. Sorry.

PDW7800 lower spray arm making clunking sound

1. The spray arm has an aluminum piece on the bottom side of the spray arm. It kinda separates away from the plastic arm and as the spray arm turns, it hits the inner door liner. You can see the scrape marks it makes on the door liner. You can bend the aluminum edge upwards with needle nose pliers or try to make it tight to the plastic spray arm by pushing on he tabs.
2. If you have removed the spray arm make sure the thin silver washer is still inside the hole were the spray arm inserts use a flashlight and look inside that section. If missing, it can also make a noise.

Lower spray arm partially blocked with vegetable (lettuce Leaf ) matter. How do I release this arm for cleaning?

Hi,

If it's a Bosch as listed above, the lower spray arm simply pulls off. Grip the spray arm near the centre, give it a sharp tug. To refit, insert the shaft into the hole, push down on the centre and make sure it clicks home.

belectric_179.jpg
To clean inside the spray arm, you can also separate the arm from the shaft to give better access. There are 4 plastic clips, holding the arm to the shaft (I've ringed one in the image below). Insert a blunt table knife or flat bladed screwdriver behind each clip and gently lever it off. It's easiest to get one side partly off first , then do the other side. Be careful with these - on older washers the plastic can be quite brittle and the clips break more easily.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance - or you don't have a Bosch dishwasher - please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric.

Washer makes a grinding noise while running in the wash cycle. I've confirmed the rotors in the unit are not hitting anything inside the tube. The noise seems to be coming from the drive mechanism...

You will likely have to remove the pump motor from underneath to solve your problem. Try removing the lower spray arm assembly down to the deck and check the pump impeller for noises. Make sure to note the position and placement of all parts removed. Hope this helps!

Abnormal Dishwasher Clicking noise

Try spinning each of the spray arms in turn and in both directions to see if the noise is related to an arm or it's bearing. You might have to disassemble the lower spray arm mechanism to the deck to inspect the recirculating pump impeller for anything that might have gotten pulled into the impeller. That pretty well covers anything that rotates in the machine except for the motor itself. Hope this helps!

Motor making loud noise. checked filter and rotating arm - no problems. seems to wash dishes or at least have water in during cycle . . .

Hi
Seems the noise is from foriegn debris( ie.chicken bone of pistachio shell, toothpicks) getting into macerator/chopper assembly, wouldnt panic just yet, give it a fewloads to try to clear itself, a few screws leading down through the top of motor assembly (under lower spray arm should give you access to assembly if needed.
OR
there is a filter in the pump area that is probably plugged which is affecting your pressure during wash and rinse. It needs to be cleaned. It is located below the lower spray arm ,you need a torx screw driver to get at it.
Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Whirlpool dishwasher makes a loud notise then

The spray arms do sometimes wear and need replacenent, and are available fron spares centres.
The loud noise is probably the water pressure pushing it off at an angle, and instead of rotating, water will just escape out one side - so your dishes will not get clean untill it is replaced.

Hi, Make sure the jets in the spray arm ore not plugged at all. Check the black bellows on top the lower spray arm and see if it has a split in it. Let me know if these help or if I can assist you further.

Noise when spraying

The wash arm(spray arm) is not a tight fitting item,as for the noise the when spraying have a look at the spray arms the are a few holes on each side and top and bottom of each arm,you will need to remove the arms of possible they normally have a quik release system where you push two small fingers together and the arm releases, then inspect these holes and you will probebly find that some are blocked this cuases a uneven flow of water and thus makes the arm rotate un even and make a noise if you find there is food of sorts in these holes remove and put the arms back and that should take care of the increased noise.

Lower spray arm not rotating

rotation is only by water coming out of angled jets at end of spray arm. probable that these are blocked. take spray arms out and run water thro centre hole and remove whatever is blocking the jets - usually rice or sweet corn
