Dell
5310n: error message is 900.00 service RIP software
A few of my users were having trouble with a Dell 5310n
printer. The error message on the display was error message is 900.00
service RIP software. When printing large data files, such as a PowerPoint
presentation, the printer would error out.
Per Dell's recommendation I configured the virtual printer to not spool the
print jobs and send them directly to the printer. This seems to have corrected
the issue so far.
The following solution was found at; http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=446153&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=446153&objectID=c00314875#A9
Cut & pasted here it is;.... 10.0003 Yellow cartridge e-label errorError message

Description

Action

Inspect the inside of printer to verify the e-label does not have any product packing tape still attached.
Inspect the e-label reader to ensure
the gold contact points are not damaged or bent. Also inspect the black
plastic on e-label reader to ensure it is not bent or broken.
Reinstall the print cartridge.
Power cycle the device.
If reinstalling the print cartridge does not resolve the issue, replace the print cartridge.
If the problem continues, contact HP Customer Support Center for technical assistance at
http://www.hp.com/support/clj2600n
or see the flyer that came in the printer box for additional contact information.
HP's troubleshooting guide for this error is available here and has several causes for the cartridge light blinking, including an open door, a cartridge not properly seated, tape left on the cartridge or a defective cartridge. See the guide for troubleshooting steps.
If troubleshooting indicates the cartridge is defective try cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown here. (This is for a different series of cartridge but the same principle in cleaning applies).
