Condensation can form inside the camera if you take the camera from one environment to another where there is an extreme temperature change.
Simply wait until the condensation disappears. The warning is to protect tape and camera.

Condensation Alert is normal behaviour if you have taken the camera, for example, from a warm heated room to an outside cold environment. This is to prevent damage to tape or camera.
Wait until the camera acclimatizes (no moisture in the camera) to the new conditions and try again.
If the above is not the problem, take the camea to an Authorised Dealer for diagnosis.

According to my Canon manuel, it occurs when condensation forms water droplets inside the camera.It also says that the camcorder will auto matically shut off. Time will vary depending on location and weather condition. General rule is 2 hours.

You can hasten the removal most times by warming the camera with a hairdryer on medium setting and not too close to the plastic case. When you store the camera store it with a few of those little bags of silicone crystals that come in many packages that we just throw away.
