Question about Sparkle Power : FSP460-60PFN ATX Power Supply (PSSP02) Power Supply

1 Answer

I have two servers with this Sparkle power supply. I had to turn them off. Now, when I try to turn them on, they seem to start but immediately they automatically shutdown. Can you suggest something to try for troubleshooting this? Thank you very much for your help. Jose

Shuts down 2 seconds after powering on.

Don't know this exact server. But my guess it is either a heat issue or a power supply issue. Turn it on with the cover off. Check the CPU fan(s). If your CPU is getting too hot the system might be shutting down power to save it. If everything seems cool it might be the power supply I have seen it when the power supply fan goes out on the power supply and the caps inside start to sizzle. Voltage ramps up and fail.
Hope this helps.
Also, Something that has tripped me in the past. Make sure the power button is not stuck. I had a server that the power button stuck down and it would turn itself off. Took me 2 CPU fans and a power supply to figure that out. LOL

It's not worth enough to warrant you risking your life to replace it. Especially on that piece of garbage PSU. You can die if you try fixing a power supply and touch the wrong thing inside. Seriously.

These power supplies can be tough to test without a bonifide genuine load tester made for these power supplies. Switching power supplies seem to need a load in order to operate. If you have everything plugged in including your hard drives and it still doesnt work then it is likely defective. I have a apparently good power supply that decided to do the same thing to me in a working machine. I swapped out the power supply and it worked again.
Sometimes new power supplies can be no good. Switching power supplies can be somewhat fragile. The newer the power supply the more fragile they seem these days.

Solution No.1: Turn your computer on to play games.
Solution No.2: Install your games to play them.

you should better describe your problem why, when or which error message comes when you try to play them.

No power up

You need to locate the PS_ON pin and short to ground (GND). This pin may vary depending on model and I don't know if green is the standard color for this, but it is green on the unit I just looked at for reference and it it aso shown here
any black wire should be ground
