This is a difficult question. There are Euro, American and Chinese motors used, the most common is the chinese one phase motor at 110 volts. This is again complicated by the fact the chinese changed the hookups between 1999 and present models. In 1999 the Grizzly type clones from China had a six screw terminal block with the supply wires being: BLUE, BROWN, BROWN, BLACK, GREEN/YELLOW. with U1=BLUE, V1=BRN, Z1=nil, Z2=BRN, U2=BLK, V2=nil and you could reverse the direction of rotation by reversing the two brown wires on V1 and Z2. The new chineese wiring has made some changes to this and can be viewed on the details of any eBay site selling new Grizzly metal lathes of the 12X36 size of which they make about 9 varieties, keep reviewing each one, there are about two ads that give actual pictures of the new terminal blocks they use which have two flat bar jumpers right in the block and they use different terminals within the six on the motor.
My example is for a 1999 Chineese electric motor for the AT-400 Lathe/Drill/Mill which uses a generic
WANNAN 1 phase electric motor 3/4 HP, 1700 rpm, 11.0 Amps, 110 Volts, Date 99/7
American and Euro wiring tends to have other colors like white, orange, etc. and up to twelve of them so you have to research the exact motor, where it was made, and what date to get the right info. then you have to draw diagrams to match your switch wire hookup to the plate which is on the motor just beside the terminal block. Mine had two reversing switches and two motors plus another switch which selected between power to the mill or power to the lathe. Using the above color codes it worked right the first time only because I researched and then charted out every wire and did continuity testing to ensure functionality without worn-through or loose contacts. Also, unplug the machine and leave unplugged overnight before touching the wires as the capacitors carry a big charge at high voltage and hold it a long time.

Hi, I am a Japanese carpenter. I recently purchaed a SF4000-A and dont understand why it features variable speed control switch. Can someone please teach me how I am supposed to use this feature?

The SF4000a Is a cordless Drywall Gun. Even thought it has variable speeds most people run it full speed and then press and engage the chuck to run the screws in. The variable speed is used more to back out screws in reverse

I have a Clarke 16 speed drill press model#BT1029. I would like to slow it down to 160 r.p.m's. Can this be done and if so how?

by removing the top cover of the drill press you will find a number of pullys. there will be a belt on one of them. by changing the belt from one pully set to another will change its speed. it will tell you in your owner manual how do do so. as you will have to adjust the slack on the belt.

The power switch for my Clarke drill press has burned out. I need to get a replacement. I have been unable to contact anyone at Clarke. Is there another source available?

depending on what model you have you can go to Clarkeusa.com and look at the schematics, the switch for the 5 speed is BT1000-0020 and for the 16 speed it is DD16102010B, you also have a contact point on that website. Let me know if you still need assistance and I will try and find a good phone number for them.

I don't really have a problem, I bought a used Clarke Metalworker model BT1001A and I need a manual for it. Can I get one from you? If so, how much? Demi skypilot2@sisterlakescable.com

Most drill presses are very similar and simple. Here is the parts list for yours and here is a manual from Pioneer that shows several models. You should be able to follow the instructions for the Pioneer model that is similar to yours. Compare the parts lists if you encounter differences in the details.

Delta drill press model DP350 went out while using it

Check for power at the on switch. The switch on this machine should be electrical so yes it could go out. If it is not the electrical type then I would check to make sure that the internal switch did not brake or go bad.
