Can the bc860xlt be programed to receave digital freqences

No, sorry, this is analog only. It's a good, loud scanner, but you'll only be able to use it for analog channels, like SKYWARN storm reports, ham radio, railroads, and any analog public service still in your area, as well as the weather channels. (these could 'accidently' listen to cell calls, back when cellphones were analog too).

What does the key on the bottom row of keys as well as the other four buttons mean they are LIGHT, WX, L/ O, PRI

From your description, it sounds like your scanner is actually a BC60XLT-1, which is different from the BC60XLT. On the "dash one" the key with the key symbol is for locking and unlocking the keyboard to prevent accidental entries. Press and hold it to lock the keyboard (a key symbol will appear on the display); press and hold it again to unlock the keyboard for normal use. The LIGHT key will temporarily turn on the display backlight for night viewing. The WX key switches the scanner to monitoring of the NOAA weather channels. Pressing the WX button will result in scanning until the unit locks on to a weather channel/frequency that's in use of your area. Press the SCAN key to resume normal operation. Pressing L/O key will lockout whatever channel you are listening to. Pressing it again while stopped on that frequency will restore it to normal monitoring. Pressing PRI will set the selected channel/frequency for priority monitoring, causing the scanner to sample that frequency for activity every few seconds, and to lock onto it if activity is detected. Pressing the key again, while that channel is selected, will release the priority function.

For full information on the functions and capabilities of the scanner, as well as detailed information on how to program it, you can download and print the operating manual, free of charge, here:

MY RADIOSHACK NASCAR PRO-84 SCANS THREW CHANNELS BUT STAYS STUCK ON ONE CERTAIN WEATHER CHANNEL AND WONT CONTINUE SCANNING AND I NEED TO NO HOW TO DELETE THAT CHANNEL COMPLETELY.

The NOAA weather frequencies have constant broadcasts, so your scanner "locks" onto them. The only ways to prevent this are to either delete the weather frequency or lock it out. To delete, just program the frequency "0.0" (zero point zero) into the channel. To lock it out, press the L/O key while on the weather freq.

I need to reprogram my Realistic Pro-2023 police scanner. I do not have my local police codes nor do I know how to reprogram it. Help.

PROGRAMMING YOUR SCANNER

For a a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area, visit:

www.RadioReference.com

1. Turn on your scanner by turning VOLUME clockwise.

2. Press [MANUAL], enter the channel number you want to program, then
press [MANUAL] and [PROGRAM]. The channel number flashes to indicate
you are programming the channel.

3. Enter a frequency.

4. Press [ENTER] to store the frequency. If you make a mistake in Step
3, ERROR appears on the display. Proceed again from Step 3.

5. If you want your scanner to pause after each transmission before
scanning to the next channel, press [DELAY] so that DELAY appears in
the display. See "Using the Delay Feature."

6. To program more channels, repeat Steps 2-4. If you want to program
the next channel in sequence, simply press [PROGRAM] and repeat Steps
3 - 4.

SETTING THE VOLUME AND SQUELCH CONTROLS

Use the SQUELCH control to decrease your scanner's sensitivity to weak
signals. This allows the scanner to receive only the strongest
transmissions.

1. Turn the SQUELCH and VOLUME controls fully counterclockwise.

2. Turn the VOLUME control clockwise until you hear a hissing sound.

3. Slowly turn the SQUELCH control clockwise until the hissing sound
stops.

SCANNING THE CHANNELS

To begin scanning the channels, press [SCAN]. Your scanner scans through
all the channels except the ones you have locked out. Be sure to read the
following sections to get the full benefit from your scanner's special
features.

USING THE DELAY FEATURE

Many agencies use a two-way radio system that might have a 2 second silence
(or more) between a query and a reply. To keep from missing a reply,
program a delay on the channels you identify as operating this way.

To program a delay, select the channel and press [DELAY] so that DELAY
appears on the display. Now when your scanner pauses at an active channel
when scanning, it waits for 2 seconds after the completion of each
transmission on that channel before it resumes scanning.

If you do not want your scanner to pause, select the channel and be sure
that DELAY is not on the display. If DELAY appears on the display, press
[DELAY] to turn it off for that channel.

LOCKING OUT CHANNELS

You can make your scanner scan more efficiently by locking out channels
that you have not programmed. Manually select the channel and press [LOCK
OUT] so that LOCK OUT apperas on the display. This is also handy for
locking out channels that have a continuous transmission. You can still
manually select locked-out channels for listening.

To unlock a channel you have locked, manually select the channel and press
[LOCK OUT] so that LOCK OUT disappears from the display.

NOTE: You cannot lock out Channel 1.

USING THE PRIORITY FEATURE

Channel 1 is designated as your scanner's priority channel. You can turn
on the priority feature so that you do not miss transmissions on Channel 1,
even if you are monitoring another channel.

Press [PRIORITY] so that PRIORITY appears on the display. Now your scanner
checks Channel 1 every 2 seconds, and stays on the channel if there is any
activity.

MANUALLY SELECTING A CHANNEL

You can continuously monitor a specific channel without scanning. This is
useful if you hear an emergency broadcast on a channel and do not want to
miss any details-even though there might be periods of silence-or if you
want to monitor a specific channel.

Follow these steps to manually select a channel.

1. Press MANUAL.

2. Enter the channel number.

3. Press MANUAL again.

Or, if your scanner is scanning and stops at the desired channel, press
MANUAL one time. (Pressing MANUAL additional times causes your scanner
to step through the channels.)

LISTENING TO THE WEATHER BAND

The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has allocated several channels
for use by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). We
have preprogrammed your scanner with all of the frequencies available to
NOAA. To hear your local forecast and regional weather information, simply
press [WX]. Your scanner begins scanning through the weather band, and WX
SEARCH appears on the display.

Your scanner should stop within a few seconds, and you hear the local
weather broadcast. If the broadcast is weak, you can press [WX] again
to scan through the rest of the weather band.

MY 2096 BASE SCANNER READS ALL CHANNELS LOCKED AND I CAN'T UN DO IT AND OPERATE NORMAL. HOW DO I CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?

If all else fails, and it sounds like it has, you can RESET or INITIALIZE the scanner to bring it back to normal operation.

To RESET:
- Power the scanner OFF
- Power the scanner back ON
- Insert a pointed object (paper clip, penpoint, etc.) into the RESET hole on the back of the scanner
- Gently press and then release the RESET button inside the hole.

NOTE: RESET will NOT erase the data that you've programmed into the scanner.

If RESET doesn't clear the problem, you can carry out the more drastic INITIALIZE process.

- Power the scanner OFF
- Power the scanner back ON
- Press 0 after the scanner completes its boot routine
- Press 1 after the menu appears
- Press ENT

DO NOT power the scanner OFF until the INITIALIZE process is complete (M000 and Bank 0 Ch 00 appear on the display). The INITIALIZE procedure will reset the scanner to original factory settings and erase all data that you have programmed.

Scanner scans but will not pick up traffic

You didn't mention the scanner model, your location, or any specifics that could could help focus in on the problem, but here are some general guidelines for scanning:

1. Make sure that the scanner powers on from either AC power or batteries and that you have a proper antenna connected..
2. Check basic operation by turning the volume about halfway up and then rotating the SQUELCH control in both directions. You should hear a loud hissing noise. If you cannot hear anything while doing this the scanner is in need of professional repair.
3. Check scanner reception by programming a NOAA Weather frequency. 162.550MHz is the primary in most areas, but 162.400, 162.475, 162.425, 162.450, and 162.500 are other possibles). If you receive weather broadcasts on one of these frequencies, the scanner is working. If not, it probably needs professional repair.
4. If it passes the above tests, you need to make sure that you've programmed the right frequencies into the scanner. These will vary by location, and for a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area, visit: www.RadioReference.com

I hope that this information helps. If not, please get back to us with specifics and we will do our best to get the scanner working for you.

The frequencies on my scanner are not coming in

while the weather channel is coming in hi LO (lockout) so that if its programmed into a regular scanning memory it will skip. If that dont work look for a lock button or keyboard lock and press that then scan.

Locked Metrologic MS9520-37 (keyboard wedge) after unintentional programming

You programmed it for usb interface, but the scanner is keyboard wedge. Try pointing the scanner at the "recall defaults" barcode in the manual as you plug the scanner back in.
