SOURCE: How do I remove the washable filter to clean it on my Dyson bagless vacuum?

As you are looking down at the base of the machine (viewing from the front) you will notice a yellow button on the right side just inside of the the wheel area. push up the button to release the casing that holds the hepa filter and the spongy filter. You can see a diagram on your machine which shows this process. After you take the casing from the machine, the round housing which houses the 2 filters will come out of this casing as you pull it off. You can grab the spongy filter and pull it our of the casing. Rinse both filters as shown in diagrams on the side of the casing. Do not use soapy water, just warm water and squeeze out the spongy filter after each new soaking. Let the filters dry for 12 hours and then replace in your unit and enjoy the refurbished air movement. It does suggest that you clean these filters every 6 months.

SOURCE: DC07 ANIMAL PURPLE WASHABE FILTER

Immediately above the right wheel (looking at the machine from the front) there is a short length of curved pipe. Lift this pipe upwards, with a slight forward rotation, and the filter housing will come out with it.  Be sure to follow instructions for washing the filter, and especially for drying it before putting it back.  If you put it back when even slightly damp you risk turning it into a solid lump and you'll have to buy a new one - you'll also get the motor damp, which is a generally bad idea!
Good luck.  If you need more help, lust ask!

If you have the older model. Remove the trash collector and pop up the flat base under it. Wash the filters with warm water and let dry for 24 hours.

How to order / replace motor exhaust foam filter?

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Maintaining your unit's filter clean and clog-free is crucial in keeping your unit working properly. Your Dyson DC39 has a washable and reusable pre-filter, part number 923413-01.

Washable filters are recommended to be washed after every 1 or 2 uses and replaced every 3 to 6 months, depending on the use of your unit.

First, make sure your unit is 'off' and unplugged. Remove the dust bin by pushing the button next to your unit's handle and remove the filter from the bin. Wash your filter under running lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Allow your filter to air dry for 24 hours before placing it back into your unit. Do not use any soaps or detergents and only dry your filter naturally. Placing your unit in a dishwasher and/or dryer may damage the filter.

Having a spare filter is a great idea to have while washing the unit's filter.

Dyson dc07 original where are the filters are they washable

If you have the machine in front of you, with the front of the machine facing you, then the filter is located on the bottom right hand side (just a little lower than the bottom of the clear cylinder). If you look closely you'll see a little embossed picture of a filter on the plastic. You'll see a button with an arrow on it. Press the button and the whole section simply slides out in an upward motion.
To remove the filter, remove the whole of the inside of that section. It can get rather difficult to remove due to gritty dirt build up, but it will eventually come out if you grab the yellow 'spokes' and jiggle the filter clockwise and anticlockwise whilst pulling at the same time. When you get this part out you can remove the sponge filter. Both the sponge filter and the filter holder can be washed by hand. Although they recommend just cold water to rinse it through, mine is usually too dirty for just that and I use lukewarm water and a bit of washing up liquid.
Make sure it's fully dry before you put it back in (let it dry naturally, not on a radiator). HTH.

Cleaning my vacuum

There are two filters that are washable. One is in the top of the dust bin and the other is in the ball assembly.

Dyson DC07 main filter can it be removed to clean?

Yes, remove the dust bin and set it aside. Using a small screw driver gently pry on the lid that the dust bin sits on. you'll see little holes to insert a screw driver and pry back on the lid. Start on one side and pry at the three points to insert a screw driver and then remove the lid and replace the HEPA filter with a new one from EBay, local vacuum store, Dyson direct, etc. That filter is not washable.

Cleaning the filters

Hello,

There are 3 different filters on this particular model. Two of them are foam, and as washable, the 3rd is a HEPA filter that's located on the back and is not washable, but needs to be replaced once a year.

The most important filter, and the one that most people are not even aware of, is located directly underneath of the dirt cup. Directly under the dirt cup you'll see a black tray that says "pull". Pull this tray out, and you'll find a square shaped washable filter. Simply remove this filter and rinse it under water until it's clean. Make sure to let the filter completely air dry before reinstalling it in the vacuum and using the vacuum again.

The second foam filter is located directly above the dirt cup. Remove the dirt cup, and in the clear plastic housing that's directly above the dirt cup you'll find a circular colored plastic piece. Reach your hand up there, and unscrew this plastic part while pulling downward. You'll find a circular shaped filter that wraps around this plastic piece. This filter may also be washed the same way as the square shaped one, again just make sure that the filter is completely dry before using the vacuum again.

The HEPA filter is actually on the back of the vacuum in a grate that pull down to open it and remove it. This filter needs to be replaced only, and can not get wet.

The foam filters can be washed several times, but will sooner or later need to be replaced, as they will start to deteriorate after a few washings.

I don't get much suction from the hose on my DC17 All Floors. I don't see any obtacles in the hose. The suction when upright is fine.

Hello,

The way your Dyson DC17 is designed, there is a suction divert mechanism that diverts the suction to floor when the vacuum cleaner head is pushed down, and then back to the hose when the vacuum is in the upright position. If you are getting suction from the hose when the vacuum is upright, but no suction after the handle is reclined, this is actually the normal function for the Dyson DC17.

You can check to see if the filter is dirty. The washable filter on your Dyson DC17 is located directly underneath of the dust bin of the vacuum cleaner. After removing the dust bin, lift straight up on the part the bottom of the dust bin rests on. This is where the pre-motor filter is located for the DC17 models. If this filter is not cleaned on a regular basis, then it can start getting clogged, and you'll notice a loss of suction on the vacuum cleaner.

If you have further questions, please visit the link below where you may download the instruction manual. There are some trouble shooting guides at the back of the manual that you may do to try and diagnosis this further.

My Dyson vacum's suction power apperas weaker the usual.

You might want to check three things. First, is the washable filter under the dust bin clean. Take off the dust bin, open the filter cover and check the washable filter. Wash it while you are at it, let it dry 12 hours. Next, make sure the gasket that seals the flip open door to the center of the dust bin is on correctly. Owner's manual shows the correct way and you want to be sure the ribs on the gasket are seated in the grooves on the center tube in the dust bin (this will also cause your washable filter to clog really badly if not on correctly. Third, your cyclone could be plugged with hair or something. This will happen if you pick up something wet, or damp or clean up lots of pet hair. Here's a good site on how to take your cyclone apart and clean it. http://www.exonotes.com/content/node/4

Our dyson upright doesn't seem to **** up an particles anymore (still picks up some dust) about 9 years old.

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. There are a couple of likely causes first check your washable filter once you remove the inner foam part and hold the white (well it would have been originally) part to the light you should be able to see light through the filter. If not you will need to get a new filter - Buy Here.
If your filter is okay check to see if your brushes are spinning. The brush roller bearings may have siezed making the brush essentially useless. Easy to replace just contact me with your model and I can help you get a new one! Happy Vacuuming

Filters for panasonic vacuum cleaner MC-E468

Hi! Sometimes really hard to remember which of these models is which, so please forgive me if this is not a complete solution.  I'm pretty sure you will find there are two filters.  The first is a foam filter, and is located at the bottom of the bag compartment.  It pulls out to the front, and is washable (of course it must be completely dry before re-use).  The second (and here I'm on less secure ground) is a HEPA filter, and is located behind a removable panel on the front of the bag compartment door.  The HEPA filter is not washable, but rarely if ever needs to be changed unless the machine has been used for vacuuming a lot of extremely fine dust. I hope this helps, and I value your feedback. Please remember to rate my response.  Good luck!
