Question about Vivitar ViviCam 6330s Digital Camera

Display has a "blotch" on it, camera not working

My son took this camera to camp and swears he was responsible with it and it was working when he put it into his suitcase. When he took it out today, the display has a blotch on one side of it and no display. I "took" a picture with it, but again, no display. Right now, I don't know where the computer cable is, so I'm not sure if I can download the pics from it. Any idea of what is wrong, if it is repairable and how much it would cost to fix?

Thanks, Tina

Yes, I was assured that it was packed in the middle of the suitcase, in it's case (which isn't that much protection). I've been told that there are no replacement parts for this Vivitar. Sure hope that isn't true!

Sounds like a damaged LCD screen, was this camera kept in a camera case? These cameras need to be stored in a good case, they take great pictures but are somewhat fragile.

How do I get photos out of the internal memory onto a card?

As far as I know, It's not do-able within the camera.
I think you have to take it out and put it onto a computer,
and then put it back on, with the card in.

I took a picture of myself, and a piece of paper, with my name and address,
and all kinds identifying information, for in case it was lost or stolen.
That stuff stays in it even when there is a card in it.

Especially the stolen part. Imagine a thief swearing up and down
that it belongs to them and then getting the cops to take the card out
and it has your picture in it!!!

I took my camera to camp and I turned it on to show my family and it says memory card error Where are my pictures

Hello

Ok, the error you are receiving, is a result of the switch on the card being shifted to the "LOCK" side, hence, the card is locked. The pictures you took is till on the card, except, now you just can't access them. Here is how e fix this.

Take out the memory card from your camera. Have a look on the card itself, there will be a switch an the left hand side. If the switch is on the lock side, switch it to unlock it.

Also, just for a test, try using this card in another camera as well, if it displays the same error after you have unlocked the card, the card is corrupt. If the card works in another camera, but still doesn't work in yours, HERE is something else you can try.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards
Andrea

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 camera. Condensation inside lens has dried leaving two blotches behind that show on every picture. How can I clean this inside once blotches are dried there?

You can't. In the future, when coming in from the cold with your camera, place it in a 6-pack cooler that is the same temperature as the outside. Put some silica gel packets in the bottom and don't open it for a while to let it slowly come up to room temp. Cleaning the lens on your present camera could be expensive depending where you take it. Use your computer to ask for estimates.

Card Reader Error

There's a slide switch on one edge of the SD card. Slide it away from the contacts. If that doesn't work, there's a problem with the mechanism inside the camera that detects the switch position.

Camera does not respond

I suggest you open the battery compartment and check the connections on the battery. It may be that they are a little dirty, preventing proper electrical connection, in which case you can clean them with a little cotton bud and perhaps some methylated spitits.

Camera says card write protected

I just figured it out- on my memory card there's a small "switch" on the left hand side that you can slide up and down. Make sure that this is up the top, not down towards where it says Lock. If it's down, this makes the card Write Protected.
