Question about Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD Recorder
I have found only -R and RAM discs are useful on the DMR em-55.
RAM are more expensive and can be edited which is why I bought the unit. RAM discs are best played in a Panasoinc player, but some Samsung recorders will play the RAM. In fact, a Samsung may play a -R that is not finalized, but don't expect it to go back to the EM-55 and don't expect it to finalize in the Samsung.
The -R are most useful for copying from tape that is already edited the way you want. Be sure to finalize it.
The RAM can be used repeatedly, and can be protected but not finalized.
The EM-55 allows you to unprotect the disc and edit it.
To play a RAM you must have a RAM compatible machine. The good news is Sony makes a RAM DVD for computers.
