If this is a laptop normally yes.. there is a button for the touch pad. look for the Fn key (usually blue lettering) and also look for a button (sometimes one of the F## keys at the top) that has a square in it... Somehow my daughter has disabled - adracamas_5.png REALLY poor quality.. but it's basically (on my acer) a square, with a 'no' sign beside it and a finger.
Basically, hit your Fn key and hold it while you press that button and you should be good to go.

Touchpad on a laptop i presume? You will have to find the touchpad disable/enable button. On HP and a lot of other brands its just above the touchpad and on newer tyes it will be lighting orange when disabled and white or green when enabled. Look for any orange lights and touch or press it to activate again.

Want to disable touchpad on my HP Pavilion G7-1277dx

On laptops, sometimes the TouchPad can be disabled for no apparent reason. To reactivate it, first try restarting your PC. If that doesn't help try the following:
  • Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Settings
  • Click Enable (or Disable to disable)

  • On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to activate or deactivate the touchpad. For example, on an ACER machine, press FN + F7
  • You can click "Reset device" if neither of those solutions work
  • The official website provides synaptics drivers and software needed to run your TouchPad

On the latest laptops, there is a special button to enable/disable the TouchPad

Hi melissamhahn..
Try this solution to your problem
*************************************
To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Note: Mac computers use "F2" to enable and disable the touchpad.
D. Sony Vaio Users: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click the Mouse icon.
Look at the top left hand side of the page, at the top and make sure that the "Tapping" box is unchecked, if it is checked then, you will uncheck it.

Try pressing the holding in the Fn button and pressing F9

This should disable the touchpad, if it doesn't then you will need to disable it in mouse properties in your control panel.
