Hi burnha6,

The Sawyer's Rotomatic projector is a manual slide projector. The reasons the brand became popular is because of the ease changing the bulb. Please follow the instructions below on how to change the bulb in a Sawyer Slide Projectors.

1. Turn off the system completely. Please make sure to let the machine and bulb to cool down.

2. Now, stand behind the slide projector and grasp the top left and right edge of the cover. Press in on the fixed sides cover, it is located just below the seam where the top part fits over the sides. Pry up on the top part to remove the cover from the machine.
--> the Sawyer slide projector does not use clips or screws to hold the top cover in place.

3. Pull the old bulb out of the machine by grabbing it with a clean cloth and tugging upward. To prevent the slide projector from lifting, please hold the body of the machine steady while doing this.

4. Grab the new bulb and insert it into the slide projector. Line up the narrow, rectangular base of the bulb with the bulb slot behind the lens, and push on the bulb to make the connection.

5. Last, put the cover back the top of the machine and press down around the edge to fit back over the sides.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Sawyer slide projector blew house fuse when plugged in. Now fan works but no lamp. Tried changing bulb but still doesn't work. Anything else I can check?

Sounds like a short (internal fuse maybe) to me. If you can confirm that the lamp is intact and should function, then it has to be something between the lamp and the power source. Assuming everything else works properly.

I am trying to find the trays for the Sawyer rotomatic 700 series. I am unable to determine if it is the round or rectangular trays?

Takes a circular tray that mounts vertically. If you still need them, I may be able to help you.

Slide continuously change

The clutch contact on your KODAK Carousel 600 Projector has either burned off from use (the projector is almost 50 years old) or is out of adjustment. Either condition will allow the continuous cycle to happen. Because of the projector's age, parts will be really tough to come by. I have attached a diagram to show you what the affected parts look like. Be sure to take extreme caution - - there is exposed electrical contacts all over with the bottom cover removed. Also, be sure to remove the lamp and all optics before starting this repair.

Blower comes on but the bulb won't come on.

Hello, Appears that the bulb is burned out, This is normal for these projectors due to high heat that the bulb produces. These bulb assemblies are very expensive.

How do I change my projector lamp?

  1. Front Projector
    • 1 Disconnect the power cable from your projector. Allow it to cool for 30 to 60 minutes. Lay the projector upside down on a table.
    • 2 Remove the lamp cover, typically located on one of the rear corners of the projector's underside. Depending on your projector, you will either have to loosen a few Phillips screws or press on one or two plastic release tabs to remove the lamp cover.
    • 3 Loosen the screws holding the lamp assembly in place. Grab the assembly by the handle and slide it out of the projector.
    • 4 Slide a new lamp assembly into the projector. Don't touch the glass on the bulb because it will damage the bulb. Tighten the retaining screws on the lamp assembly and replace the lamp cover.
    • 5 Turn the projector right side up and reconnect the power cable. Power on your projector.
    Rear Projector
    • 6 Unplug the TV from the outlet. Let it cool for 30 to 60 minutes.
    • 7 Remove the lamp cover. On most rear projection TVs, the lamp cover is located on the right or left side of the TV's rear panel. Remove the cover by loosening the screws and pulling the cover away from the TV. Certain manufacturers, like Mitsubishi, have the lamp cover in the front of the TV, near the left speaker. To get to the cover, you must first use your fingers to pry off the front panel below the screen, revealing the speakers and lamp cover. Loosen the screws on the cover and pull it away from the TV.
    • 8 Remove the lamp assembly. Loosen its screws, grab the handle and slide it out of the TV. If you have a newer Sony model, there are no screws. Instead, press the release tab to unlock the lamp assembly and slide it out of the TV.
    • 9 Slide a new lamp assembly into the TV. Don't touch the glass on the assembly, as the oils in your fingers will damage the bulb. Tighten the screws or pop the retaining tab into place.

Replace the lamp cover and front panel, if necessary. Plug your TV back into the electrical outlet and power it on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Touching the lamp assembly before it has cooled can cause a nasty burn.
