Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

2 Answers

I have a 5 button Duo Therm Comfort Control center, two roof top Dometic Duo Therm AC/Heat Pumps, & furnace on my 2002 Newmar DutchStar. I have a problem with the nothing in the system working. I had a service person (obtained from Dometics web site) come out and look at it, after unplugging & plugging in several thing on the rooftop, the serviceman determined I needed a new circuit board for the forward AC. I ordered a new board from a dealer who was on my path of travel. I installed the new circuit board with the rocker switches in the same position(s) as the older board. After installing the new circuit board and a new 5 button thermostat, the system still is inoperative. Here are the symptoms: 1) When Thermostat is turned on, it displays the temp number etc. but, after several minutes, it will no longer display the information on the display. It only displays the 1 & 2 zone numbers at the bottom of the displays. 2) The Comfort center does not recognize or display the furnace feature. 3) Prior to the complete failure of the system, the heat pump would come on for several moments in a very rough manner then shut down. 4) Several months ago the system stopped working but, began to work again several days later, it worked flawlessly until this latest incident. 5) The system has been completely inoperative for over 3 weeks. It is getting very expensive swapping parts I may not need. I am currently in the St. Petersburg, Florida area and may need a service person who can properly diagnose my AC & Heating systems problems.

    I reset the thermostat by:

Simultaneously depressing and holding the MODE and ZONE

push-buttons while turning the ON/OFF to ON.

FF appeared in the LCD display until the MODE

and ZONE push-buttons were released. It then displayed EE where it now stands.

The Thermostat continued to fade out after several minutes, so I follwed the troubleshooting guide and reset it. The Thermostat is now giving an "EE" or error message on the display. I have made multiple attempts at correcting the Error by reseting the thermostat but continue to get an "EE".

I called the service specialist reccomended but, they do not work on RV's.

Here are the aircon service centers in your area just follow this link.Your problem is not a DIY matter it would be better to consult a service center to have an actual troubleshooting of the unit.

Both the AC and furnace is controlled from the PC board in the roof top unit. Normally the dip switch is set at 6 degree difference I think. There is a set of dip switches on the PC and the diff switch is the one that switches between 3 and 6 degree's temperature differential setting. Once the switch is changed then you need to reprogram the thermostat. That should be in you owners manual. You can visit http://bryantrv.com/docs.html for more help and manuals.

As you are located in St. Pittsburgh, Florida area, you can visit http://www.superpages.com/bp/Tampa-FL/Comfort-Central-Inc-L2022104580.htm,

to get your required information.

Duo therm ac in my rv quit when the converter burned up does the ac need 12v to work?

there is a fuse located under the shroud on the roof AC on a circuit board that controls the thermostat to turn on the power to the Air Conditioner replace it it is marked F-1 or, on some F-2 etc.
the air conditioner works on both DC voltage for the thermostat and AC voltage for the compressor

Gas furnace does not come on

You should have 2 blue wires as well down at furnace connections. Remove thermostat wires going to those 2 blue wires and connect those 2 blue wires together, ( make sure they don't touch anything else) with thermostat on heat setting. If 12 VDC power going to red & white or red and black at furnace, connecting those 2 blue together, should start furnace. If not problem at furnace, if it does start, problem at thermostat or wiring to it. All that does is by-pass thermostat to confirm where problem is.

Installing rv roof airconditioner heat strip

I see what you see also in the manual. The difference is the Heat Strip package that part is optional and the 600212-001 with the optional heat strips becomes the new 600315-001 I talked to Dometic Duo-Therm and the models are the same but they both are not heat pumps but the new heat strip package comes on when told to go into heat mode when you change the thermostat to heat. The part you purchased will fit both model numbers you listed for your roof top air conditioner. Thanks, Sea Breeze

RV Dometic AC Comfort Control Double EE Problem

I have a dometic duo-therm. The unit works great and fan blows strong and both high and low work., but air is coming out of the ceiling unit rather than the duct work. The bedroom unit works OK, but the air is strong out of one duct, and not much comes out of the others. The front unit only has air coming out on the A/C unit and none out of the ducts.
