Bad Hard disk means a lot of disk partition is damaged and you will have to do a **** check to see how damaged the disk is for disk check and trying to repair it. the command Chkdsk can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors. log on with administrator rights and open My Computer then left click and now click down on properties, click on the Tools option and Click Check Now then select both the Automatically fix file system errors and the Scan fro and attempt recovery of bad sectors, click Start and Restart...During Restart allow the scan to take place, it will take some time but it is worth waiting. Another simple way to run the disk check is by entering the command Chkdsk in the command prompt, click start then click Run then type in CMD after the command prompt appears (normally a window with a black classic display) type in the command Chkdsk after check is done enter Chkdsk /f ......(to fix the errors)

Major hard disk Read ERRORS

Many people say that they have major hard disk Read ERRORS, and sometimes loose data, That is to die for, even some attempt suicide. :)

Any how There are few steps to be followed up in order to get your peak hard disk performance
1. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR POWER SUPPLY for right power that is giving to your hard disk , cause in some countries power failure or load shedding or power cuts are even more then developed countries so in those countries power supply can damage the hard disk , but according to my own personal experience Disk Read Error are found to be in SATA drives much greater then the old IDE hard drives

2. Always give the C drive volume less then other drive (c drive is in which windows is to be installed)
like for instance you have a 80 GB hard drive and
you have 4 drives C: D: E: F:
then give

10 GB to C:
20 GB to D:
20 GB to E:
30 GB to F:

it can be done when you are installing any OS , cause in this situation you have to create partition for these drives .

in that case due to windows files in contact to 10 GB the hard disk will be optimized.

3. Always De-fragment your DRIVES from time to time especially DRIVE C:
here is an image how can you perform that

4. Perform data recovery scans & automatically fix errors
when ever you get a read error go to any file
follow steps
(i) My Computer > drive c( or whatever your drive gets read error ) >properties

(ii) in tools tab click error checking (check now) button ,
then in sub menu check for check the automatically fix file system error
and also check attempt of bad sectors
then press start ......

it will take some time cause it completes 5 phases,,, ( i recommend this when you are free and not using any drive )cause even sometimes it takes a restart .

see if it helps you ... do vote

System will not boot to windows, screen lockup with screen indicating BIOS Revision 1.0.13 and F2 and F12 function option keyboard not responding to functions.

This is usually a good indication that something is wrong with either the hard disk or CD/DVD drive - but almost always the hard disk.
Disconnect the hard disk, and see if it will boot to the point that it gives an error that the hard disk is missing.
If it does, try another hard disk in the system.
If not, post a reply to this solution, and I will advise on other possible issues.

Bad hard drive back up and replace on evesham ebox

The only thing I can think of is you might hook up the drive as "slave" drive on a working computer and see if it will operate long enough to retrieve your data. But if the drive is dead you may have lost everything that was on it. There are services that do data recovery on dead hard drives but I'm sure it is expensive to have this done. This is why I always back up everything I do to a different device while I am working.

Slow Speed and Hard Disk LED "Stuck" on...

This has happened to me a few times and it's been posted here by others, and the one thing that is always apparent is it happens after a windows update, this may well be a generic updated driver which is not always the best driver for what you have installed or it could be a programme that has not installed correctly especially windows genuine advantage. I would do a system restore to a point before the windows updates, then go to Microsoft updates yourself and manually install the updates that windows says you require one at at time until the same thing happens, although it may not as it may be the fact that there are too many updates trying to be processed at the same time causing the lag and permanant HD led light.
