Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Desktop: Gateway LX6810-01 PC will not power on. When I hit the Power button on the tower, a long continuous BEEP comes on and nothing appears on the monitor. After the BEEP, the On light (on tower) flashes or dims in and out, and nothing happens. I then have to press and hold the on button until the system shuts off, but when I try it again, same problem happens. It was working fine earlier this morning, then all of a sudden, a long BEEP and the monitor went black (On light on the tower began to flash/dim).

Thank you for using FixYa

I would try shutting down the computer in the normal way, and turning off the monitor.
Boot up and turn the monitor back on.
If it still doesn't work, then I would check the cables and power plugs and wall plugs.
Check the mouse and keyboard cable and any other cables plugged into the computer.
The next step requires a seperate monitor or laptop.
Try unplugging the monitor and pluging in another monitor. Most laptops have a common
VGA adaptor jack or even an Svideo jack.
If the other monitor does not work, Then take to a qualified technician for repair.
It could be your power supply in the computer or video controller.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

I have googled your error beep code and it seems as if its a problem with your memory. I.T technicians will not admit to this but there is a little gremlin that loosens your memory (RAM modules) try reseat it, swap it around. Should that not work then replace it.

My gateway dx4860 ub33p is making 1 long continuous beep at start up not showing anything

Unplug power cable
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds
then remove power cable from the back of the computer and plug it back in.
try plug it directly to another outlet
that long continuous beep is a power issue
if you originally had it plugged into a power protector or multiplug connect it the outlet directly to get better power.

unplug it from the wall, remove the battery, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back up and into the laptop and press the power button, if that makes a difference, replace battery and see if it continues to run

Screen went black, then said it was in power saver mode. Tower is on but nothing appears on monitor. what are the possible problems please. PSU or Hard drive?

Try hitting the power button on the monitor.... If that doesn't work make sure the i think "VGA" is connected... The cable with the blue thing on the end... make sure it is properly secured... in there.... There is nothing wrong with the hard drive.....

it seems to be an issue of a loose Hard drive connection.. you can open up a tower and re-connect the cable.

Gateway 500xl pc will not turn on power button is lit up yellow

A LOT of Gateway computers will go into this catatonic state because of a dead battery. The battery is on the motherboard -- it looks like a metal disk about 1" in diamter. Check it or replace it. This applies to laptops too (not the actual laptop battery, the CMOS battery -- a laptop will have one on the motherboard too)

Hope this helps
