My portable dvd player started have a problem with sound background ok but the voices are distorted and muttled

*Check your audio cables (Red and white are audio) Pull out and reseat them for a good connection.
*Check if your using 'other' audio methods like 'Optical' or the older multi-pin Video/audio combo plugs. Check DVD and TV cords and plugs for cuts or cracks. Replace if needed.
* If all audio from any source; Cable, Tape, DVD, etc. sounds the same then check the speakers (may be blown) Continue with steps bellow to find the specific problem.
* Go to DVD player and check audio options. set up for normal play. Only use other options IF you have the equipment (speakers) for that set up. IE; don't use 'theater' mode if you don't have theater speakers wired up for that option (usually a minimum of 3 to 5 speakers max.)
* Check the wires to each speaker for cuts, shorts, disconnection. Re strip wires as needed to ensure a good connection. Weak or low sound is an indication of a shorted or blown out speaker.
*Got to TV set up menu and check your audio options. If your not sure then reset TV to factory settings and perform an initial set up again.
* If you have good sound on regular cable and only bad sound on the DVD player then try another DVD player with the same cords. If your still using the older Yellow-Whit-Red cords then any similar video device should work on the same cords. Many VCR, Vid Cameras have the same outputs that can be used to test your TV set up. (Digital Cameras may have the same too.)
* Final, If your still having problems then check with the TV vendor for advice.

DVD problem 2008 xc90 crackles in speakers. Regular stereo does not

Try running a laser cleaning disk in it to clean the laser. Often times it has dust inside and distorts audio and video.

Distortion troubles with numark ndx400's

The bad news is it could be any of them. or it could be the lighting- CFL's and regular flourescent lighting are bad for audio, as are switching supplies used in TV's, microwave ovens and some musical gear. They are worse than lighting dimmers for noise.

The thing to do is start at the speaker itself and work through the chain of devices to find the one distorting. An old transistor radio is useful here. Most actually do have enough power to faintly drive a large speaker- listen for scraping and rattling- it would mean the voice coil windings may have come loose or the coil form is damaged from heat.

Move back to the amp input and try again- this time listen for a clipped sound if the speaker checked out okay. It would sound like the Charlie Brown adults in the cartoons. That would be a failure of an active component in the amp. If you now hear rattling or scraping- the speaker voice coil is bad and should be repaired or replaced.

If it sounds good, move back to each deck. apply your radio- volume turned down to an input it one is provided. Each should sound clean like the amp did. If no sound or distorted sound is found here- which is the most probable location, it is likely one of the IC chips is at fault. Likely a 4558 if an IC fault, otherwise suspect dirt or hair on the encoder connected to the spin platters.

I dont get a clear sound even though the picture is clear

First of all take the Audio output from the LINE OUTPUT and connect to an external amplifier. If the sound is still not clear then it is possible that the fault is in the SIF section provided this is the sound distortion from a Tv program/cable program. If this is a DVD or DTH input then the distortion can be from these input units. So please confirm on them.
If the sound does not have distortion then the fault is in the OUTPUT of the audio amplifier in the TV, Possible the output IC or the coupling capacitor are defective.

Audio Distortion/fuzzy

I restored the default settings on the PS3 and the problem has gone, i don't know what caused it in the first place but i did change some plugs around when moving my TV while PS3 was plugged in so maybe that caused it. Is a mystery to me but fixed now so that is the main thing.
