To change the font you must change the printwheel, you can change the spacing by sliding the switch on the L. side to 10, 12 or 15 DON'T USE PS IT WILL PRINT WRONG!

Typing wrong characters. Shift doesn't change case. Have moved font size switch and is not on PS. Tried other wheels. Powered on/off. Any ideas?

It sounds as if the print wheel may be jammed usually caused by a bent letter spoke. Remove the print wheel and check that it can turn also look inside the area that it sits in to see is there is something that is interfering with the wheel.

My AE-740 is typing in a different language and I don't know how to change it back.

There is a slide switch on the L. side of the keyboard it should be in 10 or 12 not PS.

AE-740 Typewriter: Nakajima AE 740 keeps typing "tc" sporadically and...

It sounds like a keyboard problem, maybe a spill, if so lit it sit on its side for a couple of days it may dry and heal itself, otherwise you will need a tech.
