If that's the case the lens of your player may be bad already that's why its acting this way, if your player is still under warranty better have it repair or replace from the manufacturer.

Hope that helps.......

Does it do it with any disk? it would indicate a problem in the drivebay or in the lens.

Warranty? if its still covered by warranty then that will solve your problem.

Your dvd player has a motor in it as well as a gear track to move the laser up and down the dvd to read it. what it sounds like is the motor that moves the laser accross the dvd is going out and it is only going so far down the gear track. it will cause it to freeze and that will be the clicking you are hearing is the laser trying to move farther down the track to get to where it is supposed to.... take the dvd player aprt and look for any loose or broken parts. usually when this happens a gear has come off the track or has been chewed up not allowing the dvd player to work. if you have any extra dvd player laying around than you migh be able to exchange the parts. sometime the gears in them are the same. if not you will be more acceptable to buy a new dvd player. a repair shop will charge you more than a new one costs. but it is your. I hope this helps.

Check the position of the reading laser lens head , it might be jerked off from its position..
see whether the dvd/cd is not scratched as this could be the reason for the freeze..

How to Rip & Burn DVDs on a Mac

1) Download and install Handbrake. This free software allows you to easily rip DVDs on any Mac with OS 10.3.9 or higher. Download and install Roxio Toast to compress and burn the DVD,
2) Insert the DVD that you want to rip into the DVD drive. Close any DVD program that starts automatically. Open Handbrake.
3) Make sure that the "Detect Volume" option is selected and click the "Open" button. The Handbrake software will scan the DVD, collect all pertinent information and open the main menu.
4) Make sure that the title Handbrake selected for the DVD is correct. If it is not correct choose the appropriate one from the "Title" menu. Choose a destination for your ripped DVD in the "Destination" section of the menu, the default being your desktop.
5) Click the "Rip" button. (Do not interrupt the process or turn off your computer until the DVD is ripped.) This will create the ripped files and a folder structure which includes a "VIDEO_TS" folder.
6) Open Roxio Toast and select the "Video" tab. Select the "DVD-Video" option from the "VIDEO-TS" menu. Select the "Fit to DVD Compression" option to burn the ripped files onto a single-layer DVD.
7) Choose the "VIDEO_TS" folder that you just created by clicking on the "Select" button. Choose which options you want for your ripped DVD with the "Copy Options" button.
8) Insert a blank DVD into your DVD-R drive. Click the red "Burn" button in Roxio Toaster and allow the program to run its full course. Now your DVD is ready to watch on any DVD player.
Hope this helps.

Emerson VCR/ DVD Player Model # EWD2203 makes clicking noises when I watch dvds

OK, first go through these steps:
(if they doesn't work, then you have to say good bye to the combo.

1.) check if your DVDs aren't scratched (very common)
2.) check if your DVDs aren't dirty (eg. somebody held it in his hands after he ate a juicy marmelade bread)
3.) Try to clean the head (lens) of your DVD player with a cleaning DVD (at least 5 times).

change the region on your PC DVD player, unlocking the functionality of DVDs from other regions.

Click the "Start" Button and from the right-side options menu select "Computer." This will bring up the selectable drives menu.

  • 2 Right click the DVD you wish to unlock and select "Properties."
  • 3 Select the "Hardware" tab from the properties menu. Under "Name" you will see a list of all disk drives. Select your DVD drive from the list by single clicking the drive name. Select "Properties" from the bottom right corner of the window.
  • 4 Select the "DVD Region" tab. Select the region of the DVD you wish to play from the list of countries. Select "OK" and your DVD player will be unlocked for the region your DVD media is formatted.

Why is the Denon S102 dvd player freezing? ... My Denon S-102 does not load CD's. No problems with DVD's and other functions.

This is basically a problem with the optical pick up. Try wipe it with dry cotton wool. If this does not work, change the optical pick up altogether. Make sure you replace with similar part.

I have a brand new Denon Model: AVR391 which is locking up at seemingly random times

I have the same problem. Based upon my reading of various threads I have disconnected the HDMI cable between my DVD player and the Denon. I only run an audio connection from the DVD player to the Denon and then run HDMI from the DVD player to the TV. So far so good.

Hello I need firmware for denon 1740 Dvd. Cant not faind self.Thx

Go to the Denon Global Website and select Europe, once on the Europe site go to downloads the 1740 will show up in the model drop down menu. You'll need the unit Serial Number, good luck on that, I couldn't find one anywhere on my unit.

    Next step? Buy a Sony.
