SOURCE: i have the same problem
If you got 'Incorrect Ribbon ' error message in Kodak 6800 printer do the following thing :
1. First open the printer cover and clean the barcode sensor. The barcode sensor is right side of the thermal head.
2. If still same error message then you have to upgrade the firmware of your printer. You may download it directly from Kodak's website. Just kindly follow the instructions provided on the website. This should solve your issue.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

It says that because ribbon is not correctly recognized: either the ribbon roll has been incorrectly installed (the identity code end of the roll should be firmly inserted into the spool holder on the
right and the other one and the other end lugs on the spool holder locked into the notches on the supply spool) or the optical detector for the code has failed - try to clean it with an alcohol wipe.
If the cleaning fails then the defect is hardware - the printer will have to be dismantled, the sensor inspected and it or its connecting cables to the mainboard replaced, a job that only a repairs shop should do.
