Put BT box into standby. This is probably due to the scart connection. Try to connect both boxes via HDMI if possible.

You need to contact your provider and let them know what is going on. We cannot help you with that situation since that has to do with your service provider and not the device.

If our Toshiba Satellite Pro 300 laptop does not have a HDMI output, is there a way we can we still hook up our laptop with our TV?

Yes. The best option would depend on what TV you have. The HDMI inputs on most consumer displays won't accept PC resolutions. Assuming you want to take the VGA output of your PC, and that it doesn't have a Display Port or DVI output, and without knowing the model of your TV, the safest recommendation would be to use a product specifically designed to cross-convert VGA to HDMI formatted for consumer displays (1080p, 720p, 1080i), such as this one.

You will need to purchase a scart to HDMI converter - available in the UK for about £40.

If you Google 'Scart to HDMI converter' you should find several options, which will be cheaper if you are in the US!

Unfortunately the Humax box you have only supports Scart A/V I/O, which is of course now obsolete.

Hi,

You didn't fully expain how each device is connected to the others. I don't think you have this set up correctly. Your DVD cannot record in HD so there is no point sending an HD signal to it - it can't process it. This is how I would set it up:

1. Install a 2-way splitter on the input cable
2. Connect output 1 from the splitter to the Humax receiver
3. Connect the Humax receiver to the TV with an HDMI cable
4. Connect output 2 from the splitter to the DVD
5. Connect the DVD to the TV with SCART cable.

This will enable you to watch HDTV via the digital receiver and also provide an input from source (dish/cable) to your DVD player so that you can record.

If you've already set it up this way then it should work. I suspect you've connected the Humax to the DVD and TV and also the DVD to the TV.

Please try this setup and post back if you need further assistance.
