This unit uses a DLP (digital light processor) chip and if this starts to fail then you will get spots appearing on the screen. The DLP chip will need to be replaced.

Call Mitsubishi at 800 332-2119 with your TV model and serial number and they will set you up for a service call with a local TV Repairman which they have certified to install the DMD chip as per the factory instructions. The cost ends up half price and the TV looks better than when you first bought it due to the new and improved DMD chip. This has especially been an effective solution in the Tulsa,Ok and surrounding counties area. Even in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas areas as well. The normal cost is about $425 and your cost is a flat $200 plus some mileage costs in some instances.

DMD stands for Digital Micromirror Device. It is part of the DLP board. Essentially, the microcontroller on the DLP board processes the reflective angle for each pixel required on the screen and moves the mirrors on the DMD accordingly.

I have White and black dots on the screen of my Mitsubishi wd-73833 tv.

I developed white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi WD-57734 in increasing numbers over days and weeks. I called a repair service who quoted me $1500 to replace the light engine. He suggested I call Mitsubishi Customer relations at 800-332-2119 option 5 which i did. To make a long story short after several conversations with them they agreed to replace the part for free if I picked up the labor (Would have been less conversations if I had the original purchase receipt). Instead of $1500 I paid $250. The tv was only 3.5 years old. Perseverance paid off.

I have a wd-73833 when i turn on the tv the front blue lights come on after a minute the tv turns itself off, there is no picture

I would check your lamp 1st. Do you have a lamp light flashing on the front of your set after TV shuts down? That is a message to let you know what might be wrong.

My TV picture is starting to have a noticable flicker. Could be the lamps going out? If so how are they changed? Is this something I can do?

Take the TV apart. Have the lamps ready and use gloves to put the lamps in place. Never touch the lamps with bare hands because sodium will degrade the quartz lamps.
