That is extremely vague.. but I'm placing my bets on if it's not running you have a short in the power supply. If it is running, then you need to test your power going in (you can get a voltage testing module from BestBuy) make sure you have voltage going to the mother board. if it's not correct then you have a bad Powersupply and it will need to be replaced.

Hi i am looking for vga cable 9 Pin Female to 15 Pin Female thanks

The 9-pin port on your PC tower is NOT a video port, it is a serial data port. All VGA connectors are 15-pin. Hooking up to the 9-pin port will not get you a picture. There should be a VGA port on the PC, or else a DVI an/or HDMI port. You can get DVI-to-VGA adapters that work, but only if the DVI port is an analog DVI, not if it is a digital DVI (DVI-D or DVI-DD).

Hi my power went out and when i turn on my computer i get a red light on the tower and an orange light on the moniter

Hi,

The most likely cause of the problem you describe is a faulty power supply in your computer case.
If you have a second computer available, remove the power supply from the faulty computer & replace with the other. Switch your PC on again & check if it will turn on now.

If replacing the power supply doesn't solve your problem then you most likely have a faulty motherboard. If you determine that your power supply is faulty & want to buy a new one, they are relatively inexpensive and shouldn't set you back more than 20 - $30. Try to get one with a higher power rating of 400 watts or more for best results.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance and thank you for visiting Fixya.
Best wishes,

Wont post led 3 flashes

if its the red flashing light on the tower, its the hard drive activity light.

when the monitor goes on stand by, does the tower retain power? (green light on and flashing red light sometimes?) Does your keyboard's scroll lock/num lock/caps lock keys and keyboard lights work?

Computer would not boot up, only showed red light

I'd say power supply first.

If you have an expansion slot filled with a video card, remove the video card (provided you have onboard video connector as well) then try to reboot. I just went through similar issues with an GForce video card, it went bad, but the machine appeared to boot althugh I couldn't see the screen. Removed the card & it came up using minimal VGA drivers provide with WinXP.

Obviously you cannot check the video driver if you're not booting up...and seeing the screen.

Find a buddy with a regular monitor and hook it up and try to boot. Dell monitors sometimes require their propietary drivers, so write down the model when you take your pc to a friend's place, and DL the driver and install it (provided you got it to boot up)

now see whether ur computer is turning on and working properly so that your computer monitor receive singals ....
