How old are the batteries? They really aren't meant to last more than a year or two. Dieing batteries may show green in the charger, but only hold the charge momentarily.

Nikon Coolpix 5700 was working fine, now it won't turn on. Batteries are fine, but camera just won't power up at all. No error message, nothing but a dead (black) screen. No idea why it won't come on--it's...

Two quick suggestions first is the battery chamber contacts clean make sure they are clean. Are you using a battery pack with rechargeable AA's ? if so check the battery orientation it only takes one out of place. If you are using the rechargeable battery I know you said the batteries were fine but make sure the power is up on the rechargeable. I've had it where I put a battery on charge knowing it was pretty well dead came back 5 minutes later and the light was green, took the battery of the charger unplugged the charger plugged the charger back in and put the battery back on the charge. It then completed its true cycle.

Hi, as per your information your camera 2 years old but not used much. You buy a new battery 1st time when you charged you see the gree light. But camera not working. When you try to charge the battery again you seen the red light. Its mean your charger have a problem. So what you do now? Ok try these.
Remove the power connection of the charger. then fixed the battery there slowly & properly. After that plug on the charger again. If the same thing happens then unplug the charger & plug in in different point. Then see what showing. If again red light then wait 1 hours and waiting for green signal. If there is no green signal showing then visit a service center with your charger. Tell them your problem. They will fixed the charger for you. Don't worry your camera is ok.
Your new battery or your charger one of then damaged. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

Battery exhuasted

If you have a charger, you need to recharge the battery. "Exhausted" means that the power source within the battery is depleated and must be renewed by recharging. Most modern digital cameras have Lithium-Ion batteries, which are rechargable. If your camera uses regular batteries, change them out with a fresh pair/set of batteries and this should clear your problem up.

Battery level

As Suzaku explained:
A battery icon will show up on the LCD screen of your camera when it is already low and needs recharging. It can be found at the lower right side of your LCD screen. The ready light of your camera will also blink red and your camera will turn off if the battery is exhausted.
NOTE:
The icon will not appear if the batery is sufficient and there is no TECH way of making the icon show until the batt needs charging.

Canon powershot g5 - battery charge

Take out the battery and put it back and than recharge again. Some times in case of G5 it happens that the camera battery is not properly charged and the indicator shows that its fully charged (i.e. Green light) In such cases battery need to be taken out and than put back again and recharged
