I cant use my CanoScanLIDE25 because i am into windows7

Canon supports the CanoScan LiDE25 under Windows 7. Go here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide25#DriversAndSoftware and use the drop down menus to select your version of Windows (32-bit or 64-bit). Note: Windows 7 Starter is only available in the 32-bit version. For all other versions, click Start > Control Panel. Click on System and Security. look for the System header and click on it. Look for the line labeled System Type. Some versions of Windows 7 had the type in the title. (If the Windows version ended in x64, it was the 64-bit version.)

Download and install the Twain driver and the Canon Toolbox if you want the buttons on the scanner to trigger actions at the computer. Note: the third-party software that was on the CD is not available for download on the Canon software.

Windows 8 is not supported for the LiDE25 but the Windows 7 software and driver may work. (However, I haven't tried this myself. You may need to use the compatibility mode. Find the downloads and right click on the exe for each program and choose Properties. In the Compatibility tab, check the box for run the program in the compatibility mode and select the older version of Windows. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator.)

I hope this helps.

Is there an updated Acer ScanPrisa 124Out driver compatible with Windows 7 anywhere?

Unfortunately, there are no Win7 drivers for this scanner. THe drivers are for Windows 98SE through XP. The support for the ScanPrisa 1240UT is available here: http://benq.co.uk/support/downloads/downloads.cfm/dtype/M/page/downloads/product/87 . Click on the Drivers tab.

The XP driver may work under Windows 7 32-bit in the Compatibility Mode. (To check your version of Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the Windows version title ends with x64, you do not have the 32-bit version. Otherwise, you do.) To use this driver in Windows 7 32-bit, download the .zip file and extract it. (Right click and choose Extract All.) Then find the installer (Setup.exe) and right click again and select Properties. Click on the Compatibility Tab and check "Always run this program as compatible with" and fill in XP in the drop down menu. Right click again and choose Run As Administrator.

If you have Windows 7 64-bit, you will need to use a computer with the older version of Windows. This can be a virtual computer (if your hardware supports it), a dual boot machine, or a physical second computer. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to them, you can run a virtual XP computer for free (again if your hardware is capable of doing it). In that case, download Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install the programs in order. Then install the scanner using the drivers from the above link as if the XP mode is your regular computer. Other virtual computer programs include VMWare and Parallels. However for those and the other options, you will need a licensed copy of the older versions of Windows. (If you know a Windows User's Group member, you may have a source for older versions of Windows.)

I hope this helps.

Windows 7 will not recognize my v6upl scanner which worked in Windows XP. Problem seems to be that Device Manager sees it as an Unknown Device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Unfortunately, Microtek doesn't support the V6UPL for any Windows OS beyond XP. The drivers are available here: http://support.microtek.com/downloads/bycategory.phtml?slct_tbl=1&slct_mdl=2 .

What version of Windows 7 are you running? Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the version name ends with x64, you have the 64-bit version; otherwise you have the 32-bit version.

If you have the 32-bit version, try using the driver from the above site with the compatibility mode. Right click on the .exe file and choose Properties. Then select the compatibility tab. Set the program to always run in the compatibility mode for XP. Then right click again and choose Run as administrator. (You may need to disconnect the data cable and uninstall the Unknown device before trying to install the XP driver).

This will probably not work for Win7 x64. There are workarounds that you can use. You need to connect the scanner to a computer running an older version of Windows. This can be a physical second computer, a dual boot computer or a computer running a virtual version of the older OS. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, or upgrade to one of those versions, you can have a virtual version of XP for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode (in order) from Microsoft. Then install the XP scanner driver in the XP mode program as if that is the only computer running. The only issue is that you can't share files or your printer between the virtual and real computer at the same time. You will be prompted to uninstall the printer if you try to install it on both machines. You can put files on external media to share them. Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare. However, you need a licensed version of the older Windows OS to use any of the other alternatives.

I hope this helps.

I have a UMAX Astra 4450 scanner, and I'm trying to use it with my new Windows 7 computer. I still have the installation disc, but when I installed (I tried from the UMAX site too) no drivers were...

Hi I had the same issue. I just downloaded the evaluation copy of Vuescan, which includes a Windows 7 driver that works with this Scanner (32-bit & 64-bit) When selecting the model of Scanner I chose "Umax Astra 5400", which worked fine with the 4450.
Hope that helps! Ian

I have a microtek i320 scanner I used with win XP Since upgrading to Win 7 it no longer works. How can I upgrade my driver? Can I buy the proper driver without buying a whole new scanner?

This scanner should work with the XP 32-bit driver. The driver is here: http://support.microtek.com/knowledgebase_1/kbdtl.phtml?request=KB-00106SW . See the link for other scanners. Unplug the data cable, uninstall the scanner if it has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point, then install the driver. After installation, connect the data cable.

The support site for this scanner is here: http://support.microtek.com/product_dtl_2.phtml?prod_id=34 . This information is given in the Knowledge Base section if the other link doesn't work.

I know this will work with Win7 32-bit. I'm not sure about the 64-bit version. If the 64-bit version doesn't work with the above driver, you can either replace the scanner, use it with another computer with an older version of Windows, run a dual boot system with an older version of Windows and install the scanner only on that system, or run a virtual computer with an older version of Windows.

If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can do the virtual computer for free. Download and install Microsoft's Virtual PC and XP mode. Install the scanner in XP mode as you would on any XP computer. The only restriction is that the files may need to be saved to external media to share them between the two computers.

All other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. (Virtual computer packages include VMWare and Parallels in addition to Virtual PC.)

I hope this helps.

Dimage Scan Dual IV is it compatable with Windows 7 32 bit?

Right now, the Konica-Minolta site lists the scanner as discontinued and has no drivers for Windows versions later than XP. The Microsoft Compatibility site lists it as "Information Coming Soon" You can try the generic driver that Windows will try to install (check if you need TWAIN or WIA drivers) or download the current driver and try installing it with XP SP3 compatability mode (right click on the file, select Properties, then the compatability tab.

If those fail, there is another option in Win7 Pro or Ultimate. Download and install the XP mode from Microsoft (2 downloads/installs). Then install the scanner inside the virtual computer running XP that results. You may need to save images to external media to share them between the two computers.

I hope this helps.

My computer is vista my smartscan 3600 runs on xp is there any downloads that would let me run it on vista?

Your best bet is to check on the manufacturer's website to see if there is a driver download or software package download for Windows Vista for your scanner. The other thing you should also watch for, is if you need the 32-bit or 64-bit driver, so if you have a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of Windows Vista, make sure you also download the appropriate driver for that version of Windows.
