Hi, I am unable to install my new (wireless) HP Officejet 6500A Printer to my brandnew Acer notebook(Window 7) . The printer software was downloaded but is not showing in the "systemnetwork", only on the desktop. A friend thinks it was not properly configurated.. Can you help? Thanks a lot!

Generally, the software and driver disc for the HP Officejet 6500 A printer comes with the printer package. Check the shipment box and get it to install the driver and software. If it is found to be missing contact the manufacturer or the dealer from where you have bought. The optional way of getting the driver and software installed on your computer is from the official website. Get directed to your official website and key in the printer model number for which you are searching the driver and software for. Follow the prompts and get them downloaded on your computer easily.

There is an exact install process that makes wireless printers work, get the install directions and program from HP.com and follow exactly. In essence, the printer gets installed usually VIA USB, then the wireless portion gets set up, and FINALLY each machine needs a full install run on it, seeking the network based printer. Do not use plug and play, it only partially will work.

After installing the product on a network, you turn the computer off and then on, and the product loses functionality. The product no longer prints and the product icon disappears from the Devices and Printers menu in Windows 7.
HP created a software update to resolve this issue. Follow these steps to download and run this update.
1) Click this link, Windows 7 Critical Update to enhance reliability of network connection .
2) Click Download . A window opens with options to run or save the file. Click Run . Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

If the printer is not installed on network, then download the full software package from HP.com or Click here and select your operating system and then download the software.
After the software is downloaded, run and install it. Follow the on screen instruction to do a network installation.
Note: You must have a wirless router for the wireless connection of printer with PC. Aslo, goto printer menu and run the wireless setup wizard on the printer.

Most of the printers work the same way. Install the software before you connect the printer to the computer. If you are going to use a wireless connection, you need to install the software then connect a USB cable and then continue the installation before disconnecting the USB cable and going to the wireless connection.

The scan buttons on the unit will only work if the full software is installed and set up (scan from the computer first) and the monitoring program is running.
