You have to make sure you set your PS3 internal resolution to the native resolution of your television.

Just bought a ps3 secondhand but no scart lead do i need one?

You don't need a scart lead for your ps3 if you have a HD television. All ypu need is the HDMI cable (which is not included with a new PS3 but you can get very cheap from Ebay- don't bother with 'gold plated' or other 'high quality' cables as they are all the same output quality). The HDMI carries audio and video to your HD television, but you can use a scart lead for audio if and the HDMI for video if you want to use external speakers. The ps2 scart cable also works for the ps3 if you don't have a HD television. (note: a HD television is highly recommended because the quality is a hundred times better). Mine is a Samsung HD monitor which you can buy fairly cheaply.

When I first bought my PS3 I didn't own a HDTV so I chose the low quality setting. Now I have a HDTV and I would like to know where do I go in the PS3 setting to change this so i have better quality...

Hi,

If you want to have a High Quality Graphics on your HDTV you just need to use a HDMI cable or Component Cables that transmit High Definition Quality of Video. Settings of Video will automatically be adjusted. HDMI Cables transmit both high def video and audio signals.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Audio/video feedback noise

to solve your problem you need to use hdmi or component high quality cables...if you got a Ps3 to work with high video power...1080p ... I think you are losing time using this console with 480i audio and video low resolution cables...You need to understand that the simple sony A/V cable is made to use with Playstation One. Buy and install a hdmi cable in your Ps3 ...and you you see the huge difference...

Am having terrible graphics with a new play station 3 console in need for speed 'carbon'? they are even worse dan my computor....

It is one of two things...

1) You don't have a HDMI or component cable
2) Your TV or monitor is low end, and cannot display the majority of the detail in the game.

Most likely it is the cable. eBay has a ton of deals on component cables. I purchased one for my PS2 for under $3, and the quality of the picture is unbelievable. It was possible to achieve 1080i on my PS2!

Acoustic Solutions 26'' HD TV cannot play PS3 blue ray films

I have recently brought the same TV and had the same problem but I've mangaed to find a soultion.

The automatic setting for Blu Ray on PS3 is Full HD (1080p) but the Acoustic Solutions TV is HD ready (720p). For PS3 games it will automattically change settings for you to 720p. This is why this works straight away but Blu Ray doesn't.

Solution

You need to plug in your PS3 using the scart contection, then on the ps3 menu go to settings > display settings > HDMI. You will then need to attach the HDMI cable and manually set up
HDMI by checking the 720p option and deselect 1080p.

That should then play Blu Rays too. You don't lose too much quality as 720p works nearly as well as 1080p on smaller TVs.

Playstation 2 will not run connceted to my cable tv

your wired connection cable which sends the signals to the tv is faulty. I recommend buying ps2 or ps3 (either will work) value component cable for the best graphic quality. check it out in stores like game or gamestation or even cex for price ranges of £2 to £10 very cheap for amazing high definition quality (only if you have component support for your tv)!!! GOOD LUCK MATE

PS3 conection cables

Suggest using HDMI or Component Video if you can. They provide the best picture quality. Should be able to use RCAs if need to.

Try switching the TV Mode. TV may have multiple modes if you have multiple connections.
