Question about Packard Bell Computers & Internet
All computers have a program called BIOS that is run as soon as you switch it on. The BIOS checks that everything is alright with the hardware. If it finds a problem, it will notify you with a code of beeps. In old computers, one beep meant that everything was OK and the operative system (Windows, Linux, etc) would start loading.
So, if you see the logo, it means that the BIOS is doing its job and the hardware is OK, but since nothing happens afterwards, I thin there might be a problem with the installation of the operative system.
Even though this is an old entry, I would suggest anyone having this problem to restart the computer and find any hint on the screen as to how to access the BIOS settings. You can see some words in a corner of the screen telling you to press F2 or other keys for BIOS settings.
If you get to access the BIOS, find the boot sequence and read any on-screen instructions as to how to set your hard disk as the primary boot drive in case it is not.
Press F10 to exit saving the changes and let the computer restart. If the BIOS is still unable to load your operative system, you will have to take you PC to a technician, who will determine if there's a problem with your hard drive, or if it's necessary to reinstall your operative system. (You could try to reinstall it yourself, anyway, if you don't mind erasing the data stored on your hard drive.)
