One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

Delayed display

Capacitors on the power supply board and the back lite control board may be going bad. Look on the top of each one to see if they are not flat. Any that look puffy are bad.

Suddenly a very thin vertical yellow/white line appearing on my HP desktop monitor? pls help

Does it appear THE MOMENT you turn the unit on?

If it does, then you will have to run the monitor's self-test function by turning it on with the data cable (the one that does NOT connect to the power outlet) DISCONNECTED from the computer.

If the line still appears, then the monitor is faulty & cannot be "repaired". Usually, the entire LCD module is replaced.

If the line does not appear in the self-test mode, then check if it's connected to an ON-BOARD display adapter (typically found in the back of the machine, towards the middle area, towards where the ethernet cable and USB devices plug in) or a EXPANSION CARD (normally located towards the BOTTOM part in the back of the machine).

rictutero_6.jpg

If it plugs in to the on-board slot, then the motherboard may be faulty. If it plugs in to an expansion card, then it's the card that may need to be replaced.

Of course, these are merely possibilities, but the most likely failing component here is the monitor itself. Busted display adapters very rarely, if at all, manifest these horizontal or vertical lines and STILL boot up. Regardless if it's on-board or expansion card, a failing display adapter would normally have either no display at all, or it would just simply stop booting up (screen remains dark: no lines).

Display is not working no details

As you have not mentioned any model of Apple Laptop.Assuming Mac Book Pro 15 " as viewed in the picture.Connect the laptop with external display using DVI to VGA converter and power on the laptop. If the display appears in external monitor, that means the issue is with LCD Panel or may be the LVDS cable is faulty. If stil there is no display in external monitor then the issue is with Logic board. Also check weather the startup chime is appearing or not.If the startup chime is not there, replace the ram with a good one and check. If the issue is with logic board , display or Ram then you have to replace the pirticular par.

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.

PC monitor not lighting up for around 10 mins

Check the capacitors on the power supply board inside the monitor. They malfunction, heat up, leak or pop and stop doing what they are designed to do, smooth out the power supply to the inverter and display board. You can replace these simply by buying the correct farrad, voltage and temperature rated replacements online for about .30 a piece or go to radio shack and spend 1.50 a piece. You can use a higher voltage like 35V instead of 25V but try and get the 105c rated ones to last longer in the hot P/S environment. My bad ones were 470 micro farrad, 25V and 105c rated and I had 4 out of 8 pop or bulge.

Where Dell Flat screen 15" monitor has not been used for a period of time or on boot up the screen displays for a seond then goes black (although in a certain light you can see the icons and programs...

You most likely have a bad connection inside the unit. Specifically, there are a couple of "backlights" that provide the light that will pass thru the LCD panel. If you can open up the unit, with the screen facing up, there should be a small PC board on the right. Check the connections on that board. Be careful as there is high voltage there.
Keep us posted.
