Question about Compaq Presario CQ60-212US Notebook
Is this a CCFL LDC
if yes the inverter is bad. (a card tiny, and thin)
its old LT.
the books are gone now.
the service book tells you how to replace the CCFL inverter
find a used good one is problematc.
why not buy a newer LT
or just run the external screen and be happy
I guess you have not read the user guide yet?
about the VGA hot key.
1: external only
2: internal only
4: auto. (i think only my newer HP has this)
mine is Fn+f4, but on a relic compaq, gee buy the book,
or google search for it for weeks,
next time post to HP< there is no COMPAQ for years.
hp owns it. totally
ever seen this before. the fail like LT batteries do. often.
search there "compaq CQ60 inverter"
when the sceen is dead do this.

SOURCE: LCD Monitor isn't recognized
it is an issue with the LCD on your laptop as you get a fine display on external monitor
either get it repaired from a local technician
or get the LCD replaced

Try disconnecting the harddrive from the case and then place it back in. if that doesn't help you may have a faulty drive, hows warranty? Compaq / HP would fix it for you free if you still have warranty.
let me know.

Remove the memory from your unit - power it up it should beep if full communication is still happening across your m/board. No beeps you board has died. if it beeps and your using two diffent memory modules just fitt one leave the battery out and power it up = if no display pull power swap out the memory and try again. if display occurrs you have a defective memory module - throw that failed unit away
