The video card is defective - replace it. And do not use it in the mean time, it causes corruption in the Windows installed on the pc.

Why did my screen turn light blue lcd1712 ?

Please try to connect your computer to a different monitor. It may be that you're experiencing the notorious "blue screen of death", but you will be able to determine whether that's the case by trying another monitor. Please keep me posted. Thanks!

Today, my monitor went to a multicolored candy-striped screen. I have to keep unplugging it (at the back of the monitor) until it works again. Every time I plug it back in, it's a different weird screen...

1) Replace the Monitor Cable, VGA is generally a Blue connection and DVI is a cream/white.

2) Make sure there aren't any bent pins in the end of the cables

3) Try the monitor on another working computer to verify it works or not

4) Replace the monitor.

If the monitor works on another computer then chances are that your computer has corrupted video drivers or a bad video card.

My packard bell lcd monitor shows orange then sometimes green light but has totally black screen. If power supply giving insufficient voltage would this cause above problem?

> insufficient voltage cause ?

Well, anything is possible, but other things are more likely:

1. loose connections of the "data" cable between the monitor and the computer's video-card;

2. an electrical "short" in the data-cable;

3. a "dying" video-card.

So, try the "free" stuff first:

Check the connections.
Try a different cable.
Try connecting the monitor to a different computer (laptop?).
Try connecting a different monitor to your computer's video-card.

Then, consider buying & installing a new video-card.

Monitor turns off after about 3-5 seconds

I would say your monitor is bad if you have tried it on 2 different monitors and it does the same on both. Check your warranty expiration date, some monitors have 2 or 3 years warranty. If it's still under warranty, you may be able to have it replaced or repaired.

Most times when i turn on my computer, the screen flashes.

it means your computer has caught the ati2dvag bug. This bug seems to affect ATI video cards.

The 2 most common “solutions” are:
  • Reinstall the ATI driver. You are advised to launch Windows in Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows boots), go to Windows Add/Remove programs and uninstall everything ATI. Remove the DAO/MDAC component as well. You can use the ATI removal tool utility which can be downloaded from the ATI website. The complete set of instructions on removing ATI can be found here on the ATI website.
  • Go to System Devices in My Computer > Properties > Hardware, and locate the option, PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge. This could under other names on your PC, so contact your PC vendor if you’re unsure. Right click, and select the “update driver” option. Manually search and install the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge.

Blue tint on computer display monitor

Try
1. Unplugging the video cord from the back of the computer (and screen if it comes off) and plugging it back in. Sometimes it can become loose and cause a screen to have a abnormal color contrast
2. Updating the drivers to your card
3. Trying a different monitor on the computer. Mind you, if you plug in a differant monitor and the color stays the same. Check the videocards pins on the back of the card. I dont know if you gave all the info on how it became like this, so maybe it got undone and plugged back in forcably and one of them got bent? I
Also if the pigment goes away. Plug the normal one back in and if its gone, great!, if its back. Try the OSD settings on that monitor. Still no luck. The monitor is junk.

Hope that helps
