First check the condenser coils to see if they are dirty, these will be at the bottom in front or back. You will have to remove the cover. Make sure both fans are running, 1 in freezer other in back with compressor

What might the problem be and how can I solve it?

The evaporator is iced over. Simplest solution is to shut the unit off, clear all items out of it and let it sit open for 24 hours. Afterwards, restart the refer and allow to run for 3 hours and check for proper cooling in the fresh food section.

Samsung Bottom Freezer RB1955SSH not cooling after being plugged up for over 12 hours

If the freezer is not cooling, then problem relates to compressor.but still wait more 12 hours and see if it starts cooling.Basically it takes approx 24 hours to regain its cooling, once its unplugged for few hours and then plugged in.---------- So once again check after another 12 hours and see if you notice cooling. But if there is no cooling then yes its compressor issue.----------- If freezer will not start cooling, then fridge will also not start.------------ Click this link below and get more details:--------- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/08/freezer-taking-too-long-to-cool-or.html ----------- This will help, thanks.Helpmech

I have an Amana fridge/freezer which is freezing only at the bottom of the freezer and also in the bottom of the fridge however the rest of the fridge and freezer are only just cool. The fridge is...

It is important to shut off the fridge for few hours so that the system cools down and the compressor resets. Now check the thermostat settings, check also the position of the freezer settings.
After the fridge is switched on , if there are no issues then the auto frost timer can be a suspect. If not the thermostat must be checked. check if frost has build up to prevent cooling.

Freezer not working

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

I have a top freezer/refrigerator and notice that ice is accumulating in the freezer and underneath the freezer in the fridge. What are my settings supposed to be set at? What should I do?

It sounds as if your refrigerator has stopped automatic defrosting of the evaporator coil or has a plugged defrost drain.. Below is some information provided by: www.repairclinic.com, to help you understand what may be wrong with your unit. If it is not cooling properly, you may be able to get it cooling again, temporarily by removing all perishable items, unplugging the unit, and allowing it to stand idle wth the doors open. This will allow the ice to melt, which will allow air flow to resume normally through the unit. Allow several hours for the ice to thaw completely, then close the doors and return it to an operational status. Put water in both compartments and when satisfied with the results of temperature, i.e. frozen in freezer and cold in fresh food compartment, you can put perishables back in. This will allow normal operation for only about a week until the defective part gets replaced, then it will start warming up again.
If the drain is plugged then the diagrams should show the routing so you can clean it out.
Today, all but the smaller, apartment-sized refrigerators are self-defrosting. Self-defrosting means what it implies--though frost continues to accumulate inside the refrigerator, it melts automatically. The self-defrosting system has three functional components:

Defrost timer
Defrost heater
Defrost thermostat.
Defrost timer The timer is like a clock. It continually advances, 24 hours a day. Every 6 to 8 hours, the timer turns off the cooling system of the refrigerator and turns on the defrost heater.

Defrost heater The defrost heater is similar to the burners on an electric stove. It's located just beneath the cooling coils, which are concealed behind a panel in the freezer compartment. The heater gets hot. And, because it's close to the cooling coils, any ice or frost build-up melts.

As the frost and ice melt, the resulting water drips into a trough. The trough is connected to a tube that drains the water into a shallow pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. The water is then evaporated by a fan that blows warm air from the compressor motor over the pan and out the front of the refrigerator.

Defrost thermostat The process ends after either the amount of time specified on the timer or when the defrost thermostat near the cooling coils senses that the heat near the coils has reached a specific temperature.

After playing my AVR-2802 Denon a while approx 3-4 hrs the sound output juts turns off, after letting it cool down a while it will resume playing ok , then repeats the cycle of loss of audio output.

Seems to be a heat related issue, when it " cools down " awhile it resumes audio output? Be sure you are allowing air circulation around the receiver, I am note sure but I do not think Denons have inboard fans, you could try a ciculating air fan on the unit after playing it for a couple of hours if the receiver feels hot.

Main food compartment not cooling

This just happened to mine (slightly different model number) and what it boiled down to was the air channels that bring the air from the freezer were frozen solid. You can remove the inside back panel of the freezer and get the ice out which is a temporary fix because more than likely, the defrost timer is bad and needs to be replaced. (It's frozen up because it's not properly defrosting) With mine, you could determine if the defroster itself is working by manually toggling it on and off. You said that the compressor is working so while it is running, manually toggle the freezer light on and off 5 times within 6 seconds (this is how it's done on my model) and you should hear the fan cut off. Make sure the drain pan is empty prior to doing this. Leave it alone for about 1 hour and you should see water in the drain pan. Just remember, this is a temporary fix but should at least allow you to keep your drinks cool until someone can come out!
