Question about Hayward Pro Series Side Mount Sand Filter 24" S244sv

1 Answer

Hired a person to install my pool pump and filter, he lost alot of parts and the assembly guide, so now I don't know what is missing or how it goes together properly. I would like a complete packaging list so I can put my pool filter together and make it work properly. How would I go about obtaining all this information on line? Thank you

Installed replacement filter. Water returning to the pool the pressure is very low. What can cause that?

Check to make sure the ball in the inlet and the outlet valve has not moved. If it is a plastic type plumbing one the ball can actually fall out of the the housing.
Personally I do not own a sand filter my pool came with a DE type.(6 of one a half dozen of the other). I would remove all the sand from the filter and see if the pump works as you think it should. After that it is a matter of figuring out the obstruction. Could be valves leaves, almost anything but it should be easy to locate.

I have a Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter. I turned on the pump and water is gushing out of the side of the tank where a connection goes into the tank from the bottom of the valve assembly

I don't know but if there is a hole in the tank it should be connected and sealed to the lower valve pipe. If you are missing parts to the connection, they are available at a good pool supply store. If the tank is broken even those are available. I hope this helps.

How to install the filter on the inside of the pool

I am not sure what you are asking because the filter is to be installed on the outside of the pool, not on the inside. The manual you got for the pool should show how to install it. If you don't have the manual then the main thing is to connect a hose between the skimmer port of the pool and the suction of the pump/filter and connect the return port through a hose to the return port of the pool. If you can't connect it then you are probable missing some parts. I hope this helps.

Attach the hose from the lower part (the pump) to the lower hole (intake) on your pool. The attach the hose from the taller part (the filter part) to the taller hole on your pool.

Open the spigot on both parts of the pool (turn, lift and lock into open position) openings. You'll hear water fill up the filter section. Make sure the knob on top of the filter section is a little open and let the air bleed out. You'll know when it is full of water when it starts spitting water out. Close the top then.

Plug in your pump and turn it on. If it doesn't take much water in at first, reopen up the knob on top of the filter to let more air out. Once it spits water, close that up.

Hope this helps!

How do I hook the pool to the filter and then to the pump

The outlet from the skimmer on the pool goes to the pump inlet (center part of the pump). The pump outlet goes to the filter inlet. The filter outlet goes to the return to the pool.

Need to know how to backwash the pool filter

Depends ...

There are two primary valve styles ... a "multi-port" and "push-pull". Never change a valve setting with the pump running.

Multiport has a handle that goes around in a circle (only move it clock-wise). You should go to your pool place to identify this kind of valve and get new lables. Push-pull goes up and down. Up is filter - Down is back wash.

If you will study your system, some things will become evident to you .

Your pump pulls water from the pool through the pump ... out of the pump into the filter. Through the filter, back to the pool. You might be heating the water (would be after the filter) and you may be adding sanitiser (after the heater). One suction - two discharges (oh, the other discharge is to waste.).

Recap ... water out of the pool into the pump - out of the pump throuth the control valve to the filter - out of the filter to the heater then to the sanitiser then back to the pool.

Any help?

I believe that the owners manual has a parts listing to help you distinguish the part that you will need to buy. However, if your pool filter was purchased in 1990, you are probably going to need a new filter. Most do not last over 20 years.
